Cool video guys. I boat out of the Saugus River and I am a huge Boston Whaler fan. I just purchased a 2018 Whaler Montauk 170. A big upgrade from my 2012 Whaler Montauk 150 which I will be selling in the next few months. The 2018 upgrades Whaler made to the Montauk 170 made a classic even better. Call me a Whaler snob, but I happen to think the Whaler Montauk 170 may be the best designed, most seaworthy and safest small fishing boat ever built. I can't imagine a better place to "boat spot" than Marblehead and Salem Harbors. Always some amazing vessels over there. Those Hinckleys were boss and I love the Guardians - they are built like tanks! I work with the MA Environmental Police in my job at MassDEP and they have many. It's pretty obvious you have saltwater in your veins Carson.

Hi Tim! Thanks so much for sharing. You are not a whaler snob at all! They truly are my favorite boats and if you look into my channel, you’ll notice that they are at the forefront of it! They’re excellent boats and very well-made. Every summer, my days are filled with adventures and all sorts of fun with these boats. Come on out to Marblehead sometime! Cheers :)

Hey! I'm picking up a 2002 13 sport this weekend. Brand new to boats. Any advice? I'm in Niantic, CT.

Heyy! congratulations! That’s an awesome Whaler. The 130 Sports are super fun. Is yours powered by a newer engine or it’s original 25hp mercury or 40hp mercury? 4 stroke or 2 stroke? If you’re going to be trailering it a distance, make sure the bearings are greased and the boat is ratcheted down nicely on the trailer. Other than that, once it’s back home in CT, start dreaming of launching in the spring! :)
