Great review... You packed a lot of info into it. I've tried some of the Bota Box wines and I think you hit the nail on the head. Strong whiff of alcohol and not very complex on many their reds. Surprised me when you said medium finish. I figured it'd be super jammy and that would stick on the palate for awhile. Not sure if you've had any of the "Black Box" wines. Thank you! The finish was there for a bit, but I was trained to say the finished stops when the "pleasurable flavors" have ceased on the palate. That's why it got a medium. As for Black Box, I've had a few of the their wines but they were the whites. I'll keep an eye out for the reds and see if I can grab a few for the channel.
How many of the under $20 grocery store wines have you actually drained down the sink after uploading the video? I hear a lot of them taste chemically.
I drain some of them but I don't know an exact number. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I've been doing this for long enough that I can kind of sniff out ones that may fall into the category of "Septic Fodder." That still doesn't stop me from buying them every once in a while to confirm the radar works and give people guidance on the channel.
