THE historic village of Curchtown is now part of Southport, in Merseyside, and has one of the best Victorian parks in the UK. This year the Botanic Gardens' Traditional Event Family Fun Day was held on Fathers' Day:- 16 June 2024.
This was a sort of video clip we made of the Bubble Man and the Petting Area, as the traditional bras band played in the background. Sadly, we did not capture the audio of the band playing in the background as clearly as we had hoped, but it gives you an idea of the atmosphere.

TOURISM NOTE... Did you know you once had to pay to visit these Victorian gardens when they originally opened in 1874? Today you can visit them and see the colorful floral displays, aviary, and lake for FREE.
It is worth noting that the Botanic Gardens have a Victorian Fernery, which is open all year round, housing a wonderful display of ferns of all shapes and sizes, but a small charge is asked to enter to cover the maintenance costs.
Over the summer the area plays host to band concerts and other activities like this. Plus, over the summer, you can often see bowling taking place on its several greens. The park also has a fantastic Cafe in it as well as other amenities. Not only that, the picture postcard village had lots of bars and cafes to relax in after you walk around the gardens.
