I lived in Saudi as a kid on a US compound. I broke my collarbone and was stuck indoors for a few months. I remember watching "Toby and the Koala Bear" every single day. I think it's called "The Little Convict" everywhere but the USA. This song was in the movie. That movie made me fall in love with Australia, her people, and her epic story. Also the resolve of the Aussies in WW2 on the Kokoda.
Dakota Holmez same but I am doing for like a story about a crier, Fred, judge, aborigines, narrators and more. I have a line with my friend lilli in Sawyers valley primary school
@ColineBdl - fantastic play. I've just seen it at The Old Vic Bristol (built before the First Fleet sailed). It should become compulsory in all English Schools to my mind. I had an ancestor transported (for firing a barn - protesting against lack of employment/acute hunger in Kent) to Swan River Colony after serving 18 months on a prison hulk off Portsmouth. Poor lad. Only 18. But he makes me proud and he's been commorated in the family ever since by at least one child bearing his name.
i remember the song exactly like this when my dad used to play it in the car, but it wasnt a live version, i saw that there was a new recording of it that wasnt live, but it sounded wrong to my ear
So for all you yuoubg Ducies and Duchesses, Take warning from what I'm to say, Mind all as you own as you touches-es, you'll find us in Botany Bay. - take note State Premiers. We havent forgotten our country's values, but you surely have.
No, not getting bored at all. But only 404 views in 8 months? What a shame, great music. I've got this track on a musiccassette called "Singing in the Suburbs" - is this the same version? Sounds like it.
Farewell to old England forever Farewell to me sweetheart as well Oh keep me child safe in your arms love I need you like no words can tell Too ra ly too ra ly adity Too ra ly too ra ly ay Too ra ly too ra ly adity Sailing to Botany Bay The captain that is our commander He sails by the stars and the sun If e'er well I live I'll return again To me darling sweet kisses I'd run. For seven long years he's transported Seven long years and a day Oh I wish I were drowned on the ocean bed For they've taken my truelove away...
We should send our convicts back to old blighty as there seems to be a trend of lawbreakers over there and the lucky country doesn't have your problems any more.
oi! he skipped not one but 2 verse's! 'Taint leaving old England we cares about, 'Taint cos we mis-spells what we knows, But because all we light-fingered gentry Hops around with a log on our toes. These seven long years I've been serving now And seven long more have to stay, All for bashing a bloke down our alley And taking his ticker away.
Rule Britannia. Long live Her Majesty, Great Britain, Northern Ireland, The Commonwealth and Her overseas territories, dominions, protectorates and dependencies. The Union Jack will stand resolute forever.
