Botany in a Day... in less than 10 minutes! www.hopspress.com
Botany in a Day and Shanleya's Quest are changing the way people learn about plants! Instead of presenting individual plants, Botany in a Day and Shanleya's Quest unveil the patterns of identification and uses among related plants, giving readers simple tools to rapidly unlock the mysteries of the new species they encounter throughout the continent. Tom's books and card game have gained a nationwide audience almost exclusively by word-of-mouth. Botany in a Day is used as a text at universities and high schools as well as herbal and wilderness schools across North America.
Shanleya's Quest is a truly unique educational book that presents botanical concepts and plant identification skills in an easy and fun metaphorical format for children as well as for adults who are young at heart. Readers young and old can join young Shanleya's on her quest, learning the patterns to correctly identify more than 45,000 species of plants to their proper families. The quest will change the way you see the world, enabling you to experience nature in a new and magical way that you probably never imagined possible. Read the book. Play the game!

I've only recently become interested in identifying wild plants. _Botany in a Day_ is the best book I've found...more useful than all the other resources I've come across combined. Most sources of information are completely overwhelming to the beginner, offering no clue where to begin or how to get a big picture. Thanks for this wonderful book, and this video was a really nice quicky reinforcement. Well done!

Stamens and petals are genetically similar. Any flower with lots of stamens, such as roses, can be bred to convert surplus stamens into extra petals. Here is another plant video you might enjoy: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZgAGbhdqWIk.html

Sir kindly tell us the difference between Anthemis catula ie mayweed and german chamomile???Do they have the same herbal utilities for us or they have got different chemicals???
@thomasjelpel
@thomasjelpel 3 года назад
Anthemis catola and Matricaria chamomilla are different genera, but otherwise closely related. I have no idea how the phytochemicals vary from one to the other, but either plant should be fairly harmless. To the degree that they smell similar one could surmise that the properties and uses are similar.

I bought your book but I still am having problems identifying some wildflowers were in northwest Ohio. It's very frustrating, I've pretty much given up hope of identifying these plants. Are there any resources I can use to help me with this? One of the plants has an interesting set of leaves and I thought that would make it easier to ID but I was wrong.

Clive Ellis Definitely. :-)
@faithanstey4396
@faithanstey4396 9 лет назад
Clive Ellis I have acquired this book and also the card pack by sending to the USA for it. It is a great idea, and quite useful in the UK in the sense that plant families are the same the world over, but most of the actual examples used are not of species found in Britain. However, I am doing a book myself on identifying British plant families, which has already been tested for three years in workshops for beginner botanists. It should be out early next year, so watch this space - or watch Amazon.

Faith Anstey sounds good Faith. I would like one for garden plants , flowering shrubs as it can be hard to find what you are looking for in most gardening books.
