Leaving a walk at the park, on a sunny monday... Starting my sedan... Connecting Spotify... WHAT!? A new Botch release! 20 years later, I'm 27. Again. Best birthday gift ever.
Just imagine all those tasty riffs Dave's probably got tucked away that wouldn't have worked on Minus the Bear albums. Very much looking forward to hearing more.
@@user-bf6gz8ej4o This is the same band who, before the announcement of their reunion, said they weren't reuniting. Perhaps this is their status for now, but I'd be very surprised if more new material doesn't eventually see the light of day!
@@user-bf6gz8ej4o I don’t know. Just 8 weeks back Dave V said there would never be any new Botch anything. It would be kinda weird if they got together after twenty years to record one really well produced two minute tune and film a video with nothing following. You could be right. But who knows at this point?🤷🏻♂️Not us. Grew up watching them live, not one for reunions (outside of Drive Like Jehu) but I’d LOVE to see these guys live again.
This is exactly what I'd expect to hear from Botch today. They've had 20 years to grow as individual musicians and they all came together to drop a one off that is perfect. I hope at least one of them reads this. Thank you, gentlemen.
Exactly what I said to a friend. It's a slightly different vibe, but still 100% an unmistakable Botch vibe. If 39 year old me sent One Twenty Two back in time via a Chron-o-John to 19 year old me and said "this is what Botch will put out in 20 years time", I'd have been immensely satisfied with that. I'm aware this is a one-off, but not a person alive could convince me they've not got an album and tour in them. I only hope that the response to the new track and reissue convinces them there's still a sell-out crowd in every city frothing at the mouth for one last ride. More than all of that though, I hope that they feel it and actually decide they want to do it, and don't feel as though they have to. Here's hoping it all plays out, but if not, this is still a great little surprise. 🙂
Dave is one of the most underrated guitar players ever. I grew up on Botch, and I love Minus but the thing for me is although you would never mistake one band for the other, you can tell it's him in both. Like a great actor who can play any role. Also, he's always been cool af when I met him.
His bass tone has this shock and awe factor to it that I've never heard done better. Brian Cook is one of a kind. You know it's Brian when you hear him on a record and go deaf at his band's shows.
I’m almost ashamed to say I am hearing Botch for the first time. But I am floored. That Krispy riff at 40sec mark made me wanna pull the steering wheel off the column and pour hot coffee in my lap while aiming the runaway truck at a bunny rescue shelter (I’m fairly sure this doesn’t exist, but a man can hope)
Yeah I feel the same. But I found my neighbors grandparents ..Went to there house. Made them a pot of coffee. Then poured it on there cats as we danced around the house..
Right?!? Man, I miss the HXC scene of the late 90's early 00's. I was going to shows once or twice a week in the summer. Everyone knew each other and just got together to love music, beat the shit out of each other in the pit and then give hugs to make sure everyone was good afterwards. Shows back then were like having 50-100 friends in one room. All with one thing in common. Music.
Botch woke up from a 20 year coma and gave the world this. Somewhere between the energy of this song, Botch still only sounding like Botch, and years of them saying they'd never reunite, this is easily the strongest comeback I've seen a band make in years; perhaps even my life time. So happy for these guys and to be a fan as long as I have
i think they've been pretty blunt about having zero plans to write/tour/anything . but the fact this came out is still 100% more than the 0 new songs we got so far
@@narcoskeptic yeah interviews and such have suggested Dave V. can't really spare the time and is committed to his career (as a public servant -cheers); Brian supporting Sumac and Russian Circles barely could fit in the TAAS reunion/farewell tours; and Dave K appears to have recorded this -which seems like a one off side project from recording his personal project. Maybe someday if they could all spare the time and perhaps were compensated well (comp/flights/room etc) we'd be fortunate enough... we can dream I suppose.
@@narcoskeptic well. I sure hope you live in seattle. They already previewed one song live and have scheduled shows. Who knows what else could come🤷🏻♂️
They're back to take their throne. This is a band who is in total control. I'm so happy. It makes a mockery of most modern heavy music. I hope this means there'll be some more new music. It's too vital not to!! I have missed feeling like this about music.
Lyrics straight from the BOTCH band camp page: Seven years of tears into pillows The longest nights left out A case of pills do nothing for us Finding love in doubt Black widow Fucking say it again I’ll end this right now
I feel 20 years younger. Apart from my left knee. How the fuck they just rolled the clock back like that is beyond me. That vocal is as savage as it ever was 🙏
Holy shit, I didn't expect this to happen let alone be this good. Here's hoping for a tour, but I'm happy to get anything from these guys. This made my day.
Huge influence on me. Drifted far away from Punk and Hardcore awhile ago but never stopped listening to Botch. Heard We Are The Romans in my Junior year of highschool in 2011 or so and just completely blew my mind. Never thought I'd see the day New Botch would come about. Here's to hoping for more music and at least a small tour.
I never knew the band while they were active but for about the past 11 years they’ve been my favorite band of all time. I love this, I’m grateful for this, it’s not enough. Take your time but please give us more.
I could listen to Dave Knudson write riffs all day long. Such a unique style and sound. Him and Kurt Ballou should do an EP together. Maybe get Ben Weinman to join them on a song or two.
Absolutely incredible! Waiting 20 years for this and totally blown away. They’ve been such a big influence for so many bands including my own bands… would love to see them once again in Germany!
Those drums at 1:15 and that riff at 0:40… some great moments in such a short song! I really hope we get more of this amazing band. Never thought I would see something new again
Coming back 21 years after pioneering a genre is freight with a big burden. But this song keeps all the old virtues while being on point. A strong comeback.
I play this song 3-4 times a day since it’s release. I have to say it took me down the rabbit hole of their catalog and I AM OBSESSED and a new fan. Also, being a MTB fan I had no idea the connection or history of the guitarist being from Botch. Better late than never! Hope they make a full album!
There are a bunch of botch-related acts. Maybe you should check These arms are snakes, Russian Circles, Sumac and Narrows. These musicants are pure gold.
I keep coming back to this song. Upon first listen it hit me in the nostalgia, and then about 40 seconds in Botch reminds me why it listed to this juggernaut of a band!
Words fail me for how much joy this brings, thank you all of you, for putting in the time and work to give us one more gift in your iconic catalog. Pre-ordering right now, FULL SUPPORT FOREVER! Shoutout to 2M2L's Hardcore Summer covers some of you did a couple months back too. PS: Brian the new Russian Circles ablum is phenomenal, and Dave your solo stuff makes for fun summer jams!
I never thought I would ever here a new Botch song. Awesome! My favorite band from that generation. We are the Romans was epic. So many great songs. Love u Guys
Without B dropping, chugga chugga, pigsqueal, blast beats, in they 40s/50s they manage to sound original and brutal. True proof they deserve the classica status they have.
I'm actually going to cry holy fuck it's so good. bro i know you said you can't do live shows anymore, as long as you make new music i don't care this is so fucking good
First band in my life whom the coming back is not disappointing and heavier than when they became in hiatus. These guys are more legit than ever in the current period of the long hardcore scene history
Saw them last week @ Revolution Hall in Portland and they sounded as ferocious and sharp as ever. Seeing the greats one more time made my year. I'm so thankful they decided to do this tour and that I was able to get tickets. One hell of a band and one hell of a legacy of influence. Soak that show in. You won't be let down.
@@theaspiration Hell yeah man. I'm going to see better lovers tonight, but botch is this Saturday as well, and I'm so excited for Botch. I'll be able to die fulfilled
@@user-bf6gz8ej4o that's what I would say too if I wanted to see if people still like my music without getting any pressure to do more. We'll definitely hear from them again
this is so good. i believe them when they say this was organic in the writing, since there was no pressure the way active bands have that pressure going on.
Of all the bands coming back and making new music I am maybe most suprised and happiest about this one. New track is great, can’t wait to hear what is next. Awesome.
Peep their whole discography! and afterwards for shits and giggles scope out Norma Jean's 2005 album "O' God The Aftermath" which was HEAVILY influenced by Botch. These dudes paved the way for so many awesome bands!
Set some time aside, jam out, and wait for you jaw to drop. I'm also jealous of your journey. Then check out Calculating Infinity by Dillinger Escape Plan, Jane Doe by Converge, and the Process of Self-Development by Candiria :)
