Enjoy our August compilation! Lily had an eye infection but has recovered beautifully! Penny has an infection that's still clearing, the vet doesn't think their issues are related. Just means the kitties are getting extra love and attention! We had lots of fun moments as well this month though, enjoy and THANK YOU!

Penny and her satellites, (she manages to make everything and everyone orbit around her), make up for my current catlessneess. I now live in sheltered accomodation and am unable to keep a cat here. I miss my former felines, Mehitabel and Violet, both rescue cats. Violet was so named because she was very much a "shrinking violet" when she first arrived with Mehitabel (Mimi for short). Mehitabel was named after a very wicked and promiscuous puss who featured in poems written by Don Marquis, appearing in (I think) the 1940s in the New Yorker. The poems were supposedly written by a cockroach called Archy who believed he was a reincarnation of the late mediaeval French poet, Francois Villon. The characters in his poems were the night time occupants of a New York office, rather like Villon who spent his time among the low life of Paris. There are two books - Archy & Mehitabel and Archy's Life of Mehitabel. My Mimi certainly lived up to her name - very hissy and everything had to be on her terms. She was totally unbiddable, a thief and was mean to and spiteful towards Violet, who never raised a paw in anger and was the sweetest, if not exactly the brainiest, cat you could ever meet. In spite of her flaws I loved and secretly admired Mimi as much as the completely lovable Violet. I have to admit that Penny has one of two Mimi's characteristics, which really makes me laugh. I am lost in admiration for your family's talents, especially the film editing. Do get hold of Don Marquis's poems; they are published here in the UK by Faber. Lily's SE England accent is pretty much spot on! With very best wishes.
