the right to foster the growth of its own economic sectors. He states
that the purpose of Botswana’s recent import ban on South African
fruits and vegetables is to protect farmers in that country from
competition from other countries.

Since my country imposed this ban,we have seen many Batswana starting farming businesses, and they are really making it in that space; supplying supermarkets, restaurants, etc.We can't rely on South Africa forever. Remember, we even banned bottled water from there, and Batswana started bottling water brands. More bans are coming though, in case you don't know.. 🇧🇼 🇧🇼 🇧🇼

Amazing how a small population of less than 2,5 million is making a shock in South Africa. Maybe south Africa has been playing a monopoly for far too long. Let people not just in Botswana but in Africa to be able to feed themselves. I am.sure there are more than 5 million South Africans who go to bed without a decent meal. Why aren't those people being addressed. Is the issue a financial issue or a matter of how you can control other African countries. Up to 20 million South Africans are severely food insecure, with millions of children going to bed hungry each night - a shameful reality. Shockingly, 27% of their children under the age of five suffer from malnutrition, stunting and wasting. South Africa must address this by feeding it's own people. Lets start there. Shoutouts from Botswana.

In Kenya, South African eggs are sold are ridiculously low prices. Its interesting how traders can import produce from SA and still sell lower prices than Kenyan farmers. This has made many Kenyan farmers interested in South African agribusiness, for example many you g farmers have imported sheep, goat and cow breeds from SA. As it is visa free for a Kenyan to visit SA, i look forward to visiting and seeing the techniques they use in farming.
