One thing I kinda like about this battle is that this is probably the last BOTY that you would see the crews cheering on each other, that would never happen nowadays. They'd respect seeing new or innovative stuff from each other and clap when they saw something they liked.
Today's bboy can only learn one thing from this 'RESPECT' even they are falling they're showing respect clapping for each other not humiliating each other taking this as a sport respect the game respect the player..🙂
Song is a looped version of Rare Earths "I Couldn't Believe What Happened Last Night". In the actual song this part doesn't happen until the 9th minute of the song. (in case you were going to look it up)
@@Klos1neMN happened a few years ago. You can find people eulogizing him and saying RIP to him on some of his old scratch battle videos on RU-vid and IG. Shame he was still pretty young when he passed. He was truly the sound of late 90s and early 2000s breaks at Freestyle Session. RIP to him. He is an underground legend.
@@ea11111 I was going to say, "Dude couldn't have been much older than me" (I'm 38). That is too bad, I remember finding the BOTY 99 program on the free table at my local hip hop shop, it said that he was an upcoming DJ already starting to appear on QBert videos. Which of course was a big deal at the time, those Dirtstyle and Turntable TV videos.
My Favorit boty, when bboys todays bboys wone know how the People back then so creative, listen to this Music Gobis confidence and Performance is so high
Wow Nostalgia Had a copy of a copy and watched this with my little wannabe crew. We called it The Fresh Force Crew and we battled our neighboring middle schools. We always prevailed because one member could flare and windmill. The other was hollow backs and heads pins. And me, well, I was more of the hype person, but I was also L-Kicks, turtles and swipes. We only won cuz the other schools really sucked. We suck too though unfortunately Man....BOTY on rerun practicing in the garage. Innocent times
Brings back alot of memories 1st battle of the year VHS tape I ever had, watched it heaps to learn different moves, styles and combo's, legendary battle, could of gone either way pretty even, but SL executed their moves move then RFC and finishing sets with less mistakes and crashes. More fluid overall as a crew. Still reckon dude from SL Windmill double rock halos still one of the best and continuous drilling headspins awesome moves.
The first video I ever had and one of my favorite battles to this day. The music in this battle is some of the best I've ever heard, Leacy was on point. Always wondered why Bboy Ice (the guy who uploaded this video) only went out once, he was always one of my favorites from SLS.
watching this in 2019, with another window opened on RU-vid playing Dj Gensis volume 4 while watching this with the volume down to listen to Dj Gensis. Sounds a whole lot better. :)
Boty 99 had a super dope vibe and atmosphere i was there and the chypers before the battle started was so dope. Ibrahim from the family did combos like all night. Man I was 15 years at that time I am getting old 😁
that's thrue. A lot of respect in the old school battle. Money and fame probably fucked up the mind of the new generations. The hip-hop culture is about peace. Not about to send shit on the one who's dancing in the circle.
