Just curious about how the plonker will work on sterling coins? The Royal Norwegian mint makes some silver coins but mostly in sterling (i.e. 1oz silver pluss extra metal)
I love this! Too many people think gold and silver is worthless and that nobody will want it. I’ll take bullion over worthless fiat any day of the week! -DS
That is cool as hell! Wish the world was more like this again, where neighbors trust neighbors, and barter was the norm. Not just silver, but goods for goods also.
So how did that work? Let's say you owed the butcher $300 for the meat processing, and the silver was valued at $30 for a 1oz. round. Would they just accept 10 silver buffaloes? What if the bill was $290 instead? Would you have just "overpaid" by $10 by using the buffaloes? I'm a small business owner, and I'd be interested in accepting silver as payment for my services and products as well. But first, I want to learn how this works in real life situations. I've never received or offered silver as payment for anything.
@SamStearns-lx3ce it was that simple. His prices are already published and you agree to what you both think is a fair price in ozt depending on spot. It was a good trial run. He's happy with payment and I'm happy with good quality food.
ok silver dave makes a great point here with the 1/10 silver pieces versus constitutional silver, it does make understanding the math & value very easy
I'm interested in the back story on this event. What did it take to attract vendors who accept silver or convince a vendor to start accepting silver. I can't wait until this becomes more universal. Larger businesses all have a customer service booth. How about the larger organizations put up a PM verifier booth, as a free service? And create a graphic decal for the glass entry door indication that silver is accepted.
Such an accurate real-life representation of how "Real" money is used for transactions...Refreshingly true-to-life and coming soon to a country near you.
Do people pay you in silver sometimes? How do you go about giving change if they pay you a pre-65 quarter for a beer instead of a dime? Or does that not happen?
I've started playing around with refining and I've built a silver cell to really purify what I refine. The crystals it makes are absolutely mesmerizing. I can just stare at it for hours on end. I keep the chunky bigger crystals and melt the fine silver crystals into 10 gram buttons. The buttons end up being very close or right on 4 9's fine after the double refining. I weigh them at least a tenth heavy when I melt them then I stamp them "999 10G" just to be conservative. I call them barter buttons. The refined crystals are just about the purest form of silver you can get and it's imo the best silver to use to melt and pour with.
My light came on! I've been stacking 2 months (115 OZs) ASEs. Wasn't considering constitutional silver. Didn't think anyone/vendors really took it understood it. This video gave me confidence that A LOT OF PEOPLE "are aware" and are getting rid of fiat. Very educational video ... at least to me.
@@Bstack59 Well, they were at a Free State Project event in New Hampshire, so knowledge of silver comes with the territory. I doubt it would be so easy to walk into a Publix and try it.
@@Bstack59 yay! Welcome to the dark side 😅. Pawing through mounds of constitutional silver at my LCS is so fun. They see me coming and set up a chair in the corner 🤣
great video! When I pay at a restaurant, I provide the waitress a choice for a tip: either silver or cash... I provide a short explanation about silver, most take the cash. Some however, understand the value of silver!!
Good to know other folks are doing this! I do the same. Gave a couple of silver eagles to a young lady that helped me put a new job interview suit together.
What the problem is with gold& silver being as payments these days in America is that outsiders who come here and strip us clean and send it back to there poor countries.. there can’t be just one country on a gold and silver standard
I used to do some coin roll hunting at a bank in Yorba Linda when we were working on widening the 91 freeway there. One of the bank tellers said she recognized the "big coins", I assume she meant morgan an peace dollars, as silver when they would come in and would buy them herself and mail them to her father in Ethiopia! I had to stick to searching thru half-dollars.
That was great! Love the people and the whole atmosphere. Good job educating viewers like me who have been stacking but haven't bartered for anything yet.
So, the 8 silver dimes were not worth $16.00, they were worth a breakfast burrito. His 5 1/10 pieces were also worth a breakfast burrito. That's the problem with trying to make converts, everything is valued in the "useless" fiat dollars.
I guess it would help if you had some kind of product or service that would get you PAID in silver sometimes! If I had that, I wouldn't mind letting go of some of my silver, since it would circulate around and make its way back to me.
Silver Dave is a riot 😂 So silver Dave’s 1/10th is $4 and the dimes are $2.00 each? FYI you can put Epson salt in a foot bucket and soak your feet and you will get the magnesium in your system faster and cheaper. Check it out.
I been waiting on this video Yankee & SD GREAT JOB! But was hoping to see more on how to convert from FIAT to silver i.e. figuring out how much silver the vender needs... Also, this young lady who accepted your unique peace round.... brought up a good point on educating herself.... idea..... is there anywhere you know an easy-to-read document to help educate people like a 3X5 card or a trifold that stackers can basically give people or make it part of the barter payment so they can educate themselves? School of hard knocks during a bartering society is not the time to learn at that point to much predatory bartering/scams will be taking place. Again, Great Job Yankee and SD!
My kind of people. Hopefully some of them will make the trek and set up at the Madison Bouckville Antique Week in Aug in NYS. They have over 2000 various vendors there, and many of them accept forms of barter.
I paid with silver bars for the last car I bought. It was at a local dealership. That was a hell of a deal for me. They wanted $7k. I offered $6.25k in silver. That silver cost me less than $1.1k. Got big plans for my gargantuan silver stack. It's just to damn heavy to take to Hungary.
@@bryanx590 if anyone can steal my stack then they can have it. The chance that it could be stolen is as close to zero as humanly possible. As for 🔥 it's possible but there's a hell of a sprinkler system and the fire department is less than 10 minutes away. But if it still melts it's still Ag, Au and Pt. Just send it to a refiner and collect the check.
This is very encouraging to see. I live in Eastern Ontario, Canada. I don't know how well this would be accepted up here but if the SHTF then we may become more willing.
This video somehow took me back to a simpler peaceful time in my life when I was very young, and my grandparents owned a small ranch that raised crops and animals for food and barter. there were wars at that time, but I felt more protected and not surrounded by hate and uncertainty. Thanks for remembering back, Yankee and silver Dave.
This is soooooo cool. I've been stacking for two years now and I haven't had the pleasure to go to an event like this to spend my silver. I would love to. I was so touched by this video. I am looking forward to the future to have experiences like this. I live in California and I have not seen an event where I can purchase items with silver. I am ready for this!!! I have a lot of 1/10 silver coins to barter and buy things with. God told me to start stacking these smaller coins and I can now see why!!! Praise Jesus!!!
Awesome video. Last guy truly knew what was up. Very interesting the responses from asking how theyd know its real or not. Pocketpinger perfect for setup like this
Love the thought of this, here in the United Kingdom we need this desperately. A town in the South of England (Lewes) attempted to introduce their own currency like twenty years ago, for commerce only. All the independent retailers signed up, even one of the local retail banks did as well but trying to educate the local people was an uphill struggle. It lasted a while. Buying with Silver here at the moment probably wouldn’t be viable, a silver Britannia £33 per ounce (inc fees) only has a transactional value of £2.00 as legal tender so many traders might try to go off that as value as opposed to accepting for the actual silver value. F.I.A.T is dead … people just need to wake up! No Gold standard link … No Silver sterling link … Purely confidence in a broken system! Yankee, much love and respect from the U.K. (still waiting for a channel to open up here)
I am inspired! This same thing should be done in all silver/gold across the country. By thing I mean a whole market where US dollars are not accepted ( wink wink) but venders learn the value by accepting silver/gold first. Call it the first Silver Market of 2024. You could select a day or a week and push the idea to thousands of markets across the country. Call it Solidarity Against Inflation, we the people stand in defiance against the subversion of the dollar. One week of the year where farmers markets say, "no" to the President, say, "no" to Congress and the Federal Reserve, say, "no" to the dollar. You guys are on to something! If our government is not going to be responsible for its spending then the people can say , ""NO""
Kinda pointless in going to a festival where they all accept silver. I want to see you go a swap meet or a regular store and try to buy something with your silver. That will be a lot more realistic.
Then again…I’m prepping and prepper stacking for if/when there isn’t a “regular store”. That’s the point. My silver is for potential barter/trade after an SHTF scenario. this was just a proof of concept.
You have to walk before you can fly. Some of those vendors may indeed get a brick & mortar one day. I've been bartering since I was a kid, and you'd be surprised at the legit mom & pop businesses that you can barter with......just establish a relationship of trust before you bring the topic of bartering up, and see where it goes.
How fun! Thanks for taking us on this trip. I'm thinking that a silver testing /verification booth will be crucial in areas of commerce. Great skill to be able to contribute to the community!
Great video Yankee & Dave! Looked like a great event. I wonder what would happen if there was say just a 5-10% shift of people moving to a metals barter transaction? Low premiums would help too I think if people could buy with as little premium they would maybe be encouraged to switch up now before they're forced.
It’s a little interesting that the 1/10 oz went for 40 per oz. There didn’t seem to be much calculations going on to determine the conversion to fiat for the silver content.
True, but remember…I’m prepping and prepper stacking for if/when there isn’t a “large scale store”. That’s the point. My silver is for potential barter/trade after an SHTF scenario. this was just a proof of concept.
