A Boundary Waters trip along the Cherokee Loop in September 2021. My brother and I took our mom on her very first backcountry canoe trip. Though the weather was a bit rainy, we had a great time overall. There was a drought in the BWCA while we were there and this was apparent in numerous locations where the low water levels created unforeseen challenges. Cherokee Creek was incredibly low and we had to portage an extra 70 rods along the shore before we could launch into the creek.
