I've been mulling over pre-ordering this book for the PDF since it was released, and this video just put it over the top for me. Picking it up today! Thanks for the flip-through! Always ALWAYS love your Traveller videos.
I appreciate your points about how to integrate a bounty hunter into your player group. Being aware of how a career path or background will play out is an important part of GMing. Sometimes you might need to say “no” to keep everyone involved in each game.
Bounty hunting is so much fun, and can be very lucrative. Our big adventure went sideways very badly. We did some bounties during the adventure, and those might be most of the money we get.
GREAT review! I picked this up last week and only looked at a few sections so far. I was _slightly_ disappointed that it didn't have more gear or a larger High Guard, but I know that's silly because it's not a gear book or a ship book. Really looking forward to reading the whole thing this weekend. Thanks for the closer look!
Bounty hunting is always a good side job for a group of general mercenaries, or it can be the central plot element that spans a few sessions of a campaign - if the target is too powerful or elusive to get caught easily. But I think a "target of the week" type game limits all the other fun shenanigans the players could be getting into, and makes the sessions too repetitive.
Good review. I could see a group of BH's specializing in seizing ships from people who have defaulted on ship payments. Like a version of Leverage. As a BH in a group, there should be a good reason why the BH pc is with the group, and not earning. imho.
I was hoping you'd cover this book!! Excellent review of an excellent book. The last 95% of it that was pure gold. So very creative and useful. Curious about your 2nd video.. covering the small handful of pages about the Bounty Hunter career. Curious if you thoughts match mine, which they may if you have a 2nd specific video coming on what was.. no more than 3 or 4 pages of the whole book.
@@page121tabletoproleplaying4 looking forward to it. And.. on a very related subject. Do you have the Manhunters book by Independence Games. I know you've reviewed their ship books before but didn't see a review for that book. What a great 'career' focused book that was. Was my first book that I bought by Independence but won't be the last. Very well done.
I like the book in some ways and in other ways I don't really. The reputation mechanic is interesting and the missions are interesting adventure hooks and the bounty hunter back story is interesting.
