Man, Whiskey Business must have received the entire West Tennessee allotment of the Holladay Soft Red Wheat Rickhouse Proof. I need to find an excuse to get up there again and grab another or two or three.
Hey Major ,, Yes I did watch the live after on another day,, I did see you found my pacakge and a lot more of them,,,, your Bar is getting there and I know you will enjoy ,,, I really do enjoy my Cave .... Not Sure If I told you I call it Hazelwood Tavern ,,,, The rural area I live in during the Oil Field Boom was call Hazelwood Oil Field so thats were I picked up the name.... Thanks
Hey Major Besides my Buffalo Trace Tater Products I hunt ,, I always try to do store picks when availiable and I also have those shelfers Evan BIB, Heaven Hill BIB, Wild Turkey 101, Early Times BIB and another thing I recently picked is a Bardstown Disco #11 which I am really liking ..... Thanks
I don't think it's Bardstown that may be going out of business. I believe it's Barrell that has those rumors circulating. Both starting with "B's" I bet you just got them mixed up. Cheers!
Great video major. Just got back from my first trip to Kentucky. Was able to get a Stagg Jr batch 18 at a liqour barn for $60 and also scored 2 Hancock's reserve Liqour barn store picks! I'd say that's a successful first time on the trail!
You passed a few bottles that are very good that you really need to try. Michter’s Unblended Whiskey is an amazing value sipper. They scrape out the inside of a bourbon barrel, rechar it and fill it again. It caramelizes the sugars in the barrel again and creates very robust flavor that is absolutely delicious and very slept on. The Old Soul Tin Series bottle that you passed in the beginning is a great high proof pour that's dangerously smooth. I also don't recommend making an old fashioned with Ancient Age. It's not going to taste like much at all, but it does make a really good shelfer.
I usually get old fashioneds when the whiskey is going to be weak or just plain bad. It was the reason Old Fashioneds were invited. Never really thought about Ancient Age as a sipper I may have to revisit it
@MajorXero I had been watching your channel for a while now, and much respect Sir 🙏🏾 I've enjoyed these past few years in the wonderfully expensive world of whiskey 😀 hope I'm at work again to turn off the music!!!🤣🙏🏾
Major I met you at Chic fil a 2 months ago. I enjoy your videos. I picked up the Chattanooga Founders this morning and the Old Dominic Single Barrel. I watched this video hot off the press last night.
hey bud. nice hunt. thanks for shout out. So I will have my first hunt going thru international airport. pre warning. it is terrible. i was trying to my gate. lol. I like your choices for 6 to 7 bottles to have on a shelf. I think everyone needs a good solid higher proof like Stagg if you can get for a good price.. that tequila is just a pretty bottle, juice not great. thanks again,. cheers
@@MajorXero Whiskey Watching here in Washington State is good times. I love the local stuff so I don't venture to far from it. I hate getting a bottle of something I like then I can't find it any more. #eaglerare.
@@CowboyWhiskeyAdventures Where in Washington are you my friend? I can usually find Eagle Rare at QFC or Safeway. Just got the half gallon from QFC today actually. I have heard that Walmart is low key a killer place for selection/prices on bourbon although I can't confirm personally.
I love my Still Austin “Artist” rye. For $50 it is fair priced and offers flavor with no mint. Heard Jack Daniel’s single barrel and barrel proof is bourbon friendly as well. And even michters rye even though it is too low proof for me.
If you enjoy rye bread then you’ll like the artist. Rye is my favorite bread so it was no surprise. Imagine chewing the rye grain and flavor comes through. That but the form of a smell is how the artist tastes to me
@BondingOverWhiskey Hey there, we have kindred usernames 👍 Anyways, the SA rye is delicious, but their barrel proof rye is absolutely insane. Drinks way smoothly than the age would imply.
Last bottle I bought from there tater shelf I had to either spend $100 or purchase a store pick for them to sell it too me. But it was worth it leaving with more bourbon is never a bad thing 😂
I hate Willet, Basil Hayden. I don't thinknis worth the extra price for the bottle. To be fair, I do some of this for pacing to make sure I slow down and so people can see prices. I get just as many people saying they like it as I do hate it. So, really, it is generally less than 10 seconds of a 10 to 14 min video. Thanks for the feedback, and I will try and do better.
