snakeman 48 I haven't found a bottle of the Single Barrel in LCBO yet (I'm Canadian). I did however find Four Roses Small Batch once and it was fantastic. I've also had Buffalo Trace, and Woodford Reserve. Also nice quality whiskey. But I do still prefer scotch. But it depends on the scotch and depends on my mood. I just really appreciate whisky in it's many varieties.

reptilianskin and if I understand correctly LCBO shipping has gone on strike so it is unlikely that we will see any new whiskeys at this time

Yup. When I saw him pull out Four Roses Single Barrel I said, "Done. It's over." Now I want to go buy a bottle . . . I might need to run to the store. Which I could literally do because it is one mile away. But then I'd have to run back. Carrying a bottle that I'd be wanting to take a drink from. So, driving is a much better idea. I think. :-/

To me it's peaty single malt way at the top, then bourbon, then non-peaty single malt, then blended. But I do like to switch between the three first, I think variety is what's most important.

Unfortunately that is caramel coloring. Very common even in high quality scotch. Bourbon is always natural color otherwise it cannot be called bourbon.

I prefer Glengoyne 21 year to any of the ones on here I've personally tried. Never had Angel's Envy or the second Scotch they tasted, but I kind of stopped trying new things after I tasted Glengoyne 21. It's also only $30 for 750ml of Glengoyne 10 at my local liquor store, making it perfect to stock up on for not much. I usually buy 2 bottles of Glengoyne 10, a bottle of Glengoyle 21, and a bottle of Maker's 46. Comes out to about $400, but I also don't have to buy whiskey for another year.

I still can't believe in what I just saw...Whisky Sommelier (at least that's what was said on the video and what they got medal for) is re-using the same whisky glass for like 4 times without even rinsing it? I can't believe my eyes...Come on, guys! It's not just that but also the fact that you drank one after one without rinsing your mouth with some water.. oh wow.. ..

Have to say if I was trying to convert a bourbon drinker to scotch, I would go with a lowland or speyside, and avoid islay entirely. Going the other way around, definitely had a good strategy with barrel proof and high rye, all the added complexity and depth.

I was a fan of Canadian blended whiskeys for years until a golf scramble where I was teamed up with several management types. They introduced me to my first blended scotch. Occasionally I’ll buy crown royal for nostalgia but scotches continue to accent my regular and special occasions.
