Great to see the single line from the NLL to the ECML. Thanks again for some rare footage.

Interesting economics: that it was judged cheaper to build the Hertford Loop than to widen Welwyn Viaduct. Mind you, there was the very big benefit that places like Hertford and Enfield got a more direct connection to London, and a service to the north that had not existed before. I knew about the connection between the ECML and the Moorgate branch, but I'd not realised that there is a parallel connection, using different tracks, to the NLL.

It's a bit like how the Northampton Loop Line was built, partly to avoid the expense of widening Kilsby Tunnel.

Great! You went through Stevenage at about 65mph. That must have been an experience for the people on the platform to have a goods train going that fast so close! I have never seen the Hertford loop on video or real life. Thanks! Gordon Hill was quite a station for its modest location. Any reason? Really interesting video. Thanks again!

Fab. Loved it, especially the Hertford loop (not travelled that before), but jeez... was that a pair of C86's at Lea? I thought their problems with flashovers would have consigned them to the scrapheap long before the demise of the C87's etc.

Brilliant video as always, thank you. Have you any plans to do the line from Long Eaton via Castle Donnington and may be take in the new container terminal near there?

that was a few years ago - the scene in the Olympic Park and Finsbury Park has changed dramatically since. Fascinating, but I'd go mad if that were my job. Looks pretty boring.

Very interesting journey, but slightly disappointed not to see the station names in old BR regional coloured sausage signs as in other videos.

Unfortunately its been a work in progress before I started to use the BR Totem signs.

Given that a Train is a collective noun referring to a locmotive and several carriages, the correct grammar for your comment at Canonbury would be "were authorised to pass"

When I see a diesel-hauled container train, it's nearly always a single Class 66. But when electric hauled, it's nearly always a _pair_ if 86s. Even though the 86 has more power. Is this down to the latter only having four axles, or something else?

The electrics weigh less I think that's why..
