Not only do they hv a fit & finish like no one else but the sound is also like no one else. But they need to be driven by the right amp. Once that is done right, sit back, relax & be drawn into the music like no other spk can do.
As a teenager, I was allowed and forced to earn money and learned the technician. I worked in various studios and behind the scenes. That's when the Bower & Wilkins virus hit me. Somehow I am not recovered from it. I still hope it is not serious. Further, I hope for an 804 D4 Signature or an 803 D4 Signature. These speakers especially in blue are so damn seductive.
Thanks for a most balanced and informative review, for some reason here in the U.K., there’s no love for B&W and SME, every time these brands are mentioned, the haters come out, for me these two companies epitomise the “Best of British” brands and my endgame hifi journey.
I have a lowly 702 s3 and can’t even imagine something even better than that. Bowers are an acquired taste since they are bright and revealing so if audio quality is crappy you will know right away but if the quality of audio is great and you have the right amp it should feel like the singer, piano or guitar is right in front of you. Bowers are like nothing else. Feed them decent power and good audio quality and they will reward you immensely. It’s a money pit essentially 😀
I might be wrong about this, but why are there not a protection of some sort in front of the speaker, some kind of net, fabric or nylon or just something. The loud speakers are expensive! Dust could be catastrophic!
It’s expected that you would say that your salesman and a sales company I have the 805 D4, and there is no way that I can see justification in the differences northern price even if with a listen, it would have to be such a substantial upgrade for the additional cost
They are at a premium, if you already have 805d4, its probably not worth considering. And there are more differences on the 801's, they bowled us over. We appreciate you watching
My 706s suck. The 800 series would be about the only B&W speakers that are any good. Except for the Nautilus. There is a demo on YT of the Nautilus and it sounds amazing!. I bit better than my 706s. 😅
In your video description you said, regarding drivers, that the 801 drivers were upgraded and that the (SAME IMPROVEMENTS) were made to the 805 signatures regarding drivers! @@AudioAdvice Can you confirm this to be CORRECT about the 805 signatures drivers? Or is it the driver motor that you say that both were upgraded? Can you elaborate a little more about the drover/motor of the 805 sigs?
@@xsamitt From the B&W release on the 805Sig "We take the same approach with the mid/bass drive unit on 805 Signature, which also features an upgraded pole on the magnet plus a larger vent hole for improved current distortion." Hope this helps you
@@xsamitt It was in a doc we had pre-release we had to sign an NDA to get, which is still in effect. We will ask if we can send it to you. You could also reach out to B&W and see if they will share. May we ask the reason for your interest?
Not according to their customer service. When I was in the market for their 702 signatures their response was they do not offer book matches veneers. It would make sense that they do for something in the $50k range.
😊 B&W crossover downgrade even further again 801 signature model.😅 From Silver/gold downgraded further again to Alum Cap 801 signature model.😅 Making buyer very very Angry nowaday.
I got some 706s as reference for my speaker building hobby. They do help with levels but I don't like my 706s. They sound a bit "foofy". And my made speakers absolutely flog them (even if the 706s did help). I just don't 100% copy the sound and give it my own personal sound (just a little bit). Mine aren't so "foofy". 😅
😂Stop cutting cost again on your mid range Crossover ok B&W. Customer knows it. mid range Sound is very Rough. U making customer very very Pissed off again😅
@@AudioAdvice I know the company has been doing this for years I think it's ugly though… Plus like I said it could be damaged easily I think speakers belong inside the cabinet not outside
