I love all of Bowery Electric's music, but this has to be their crowning achievement. The most perfect blend of shoegaze and trip-hop ever, that will never be topped.
Their other album the same thing. It's the most perfect for riding down Beverly/ 1st in Los Angeles away from downtown toward Vermont. If you listen around sunset and hit the curve when the water is spraying from the car wash, forget it. This music is Los Angeles to me (although they from New York or Chicago or something) Good call
Y'all are spot on. The album cover for Beat is the 405 / 55 freeway interchange in Costa Mesa / Newport in Orange County. Perfect image for the sound of the record
This is always playing in my ears while I'm thinking all the life choices I've had. Most of them failures obviously and name of the song describes the situation I'm in: fear to take step.
right before Logic turned an Apple laptop into every instrument you would ever need and then you had post 90's homogeneity that there's nothing left to advance.... it's been conquered since the 90's
when you watch the video as you listen the music it brings back childhood memories even tho i didnt born in 96 i feel connected spiritually with this video, i come back here almost everyday in the past years
@@WC-PO i think it's a shame that Hooverphonic drifted into more pop sounds after a great debut. The rest aren't bad albums, but they just seem to be missing that spark, and dreamy vibe.
Maybe this sounds strange, but listening to Bowery Electric is not an escape for me, it's the opposite. I often feel as if I'm disconected from myself, my mind kind of out of sync where clarity seems just out of my grasp but listening to this plugs me back in and makes that connection. No other music does this for me.
Saw this live so good - for the guitar pedal nerds out there.....the secret sauce in the guitar sound is the Rotovibe :) I stood in the front row and watched Lawrence play this. The Rotovibe is the pedal he plays for the entire song - it's glorious.
This is defined as "Dream Pop" but for me it is the greatest expression of "Industrial" (in the truest sense not as in the genre). I still can't get over how fucking brilliant the soundscape is in this track, and I've been listening to it for over a decade.
this is the glow of a cool August night, this track will remain in my memory forever. I listened to a lot, but this is one of those tracks that remind you of moments and reproduce something that you have never experienced (for those who understand)
Awesome...had 2disc for years...never saw vid from which cover image was grabbed...love it. Was lucky to see them in Chicago once with Robert HAMPSON/MAIN/GODFLESH...SOOOO GOOD
Something made me think of this song tonight, I needed to hear it again. It resonates so strongly with me. I remember flying through space, this is how it felt. I know, sounds pretentious.🤷♀
"Vertigo is not the fear of heights. It's the fear of flying." quote from someone with a bit of fame. I am afraid, I would jump off by instinct and I keep picturing it. I thought this one was about that kind of experience. I didn't have it until recently after stopping some meds. L'appel du vide
God damn I need a 4k remaster of this!! Proper too, none of that ai shit. I wanna see that 16mm negative scanned in baby. Shit I'd pay for it if I could
. I was searching through the MTV show 120 minutes I had recorded the night before, when suddenly this little beauty pops up. I must have listened to this track about a hundred times on ( video tape ). From what was a very bleak uninteresting time in so called indie music after say 1994 ( except for F.S.A. ) this was pure indulgence. Got it on vinyl as well which is worth a few £ today. Never would sell it.
por años buscando este tema, lo escuche en grooveshark una vez, se cerro la cuenta y hoy recupere mis playlists y aca estoy escuchando y viendo el video, muychas gracias. Este tema me acompaño en un momento trascendente en mi vida
What a track!!! So thankful the Google algorithm brought this into my feed!! Maybe because I’ve been listening to some Flying Nun-esque music... ALL good!!
I feel like this song represents the uncovering of repressed issues through nightmares. Around the time i found this song I'd been having nightmares almost every night for a few months, eventually leading to me becoming aware of things and recent events in my life that i was still processing and dwelling over, and were making me feel horrible on an almost daily basis. When i heard this song and read the lyrics I realized it perfectly represented what I'd found by searching in myself. We all get used to dreams that used to please us, or even carry no apparent meaning to us, but when these dreams become dark and unsettling it's a startling and frightening experience. These dreams bring to our awareness things that we've become unconscious of, and only by becoming conscious of these things can we be freed from them. Just my interpretation tho, I'm sure i sound super pretentious lol.
While most probably associate the "glide guitar" style of MBV with the shoegaze sound, this is one of my favorite guitar sounds that i hold as a quintessential example of the shoegaze atmosphere
This took me 3 weeks to try and remember "Bowery Electric" I've been wanting to play this track but forget the name........ Oh and Archers of load of the side bar... thats my morning sorted.
