Meet Scotty in south texas at a lodge while bowfishin out of a personal boat and was super kind. Gave us advice for getting our first gator gar of our own, never got to thank him.
@@UnGuidedOutdoors I miss watching you guys bow fish, could you please upload more videos? Miss seeing frequent videos you would post especially the bow fishing at night videos. Maybe bring back catch clean cook🙏🏻🙏🏻
I love bow fishing. But alligator gar populations are declining. Killing the big females is part of why. If you don’t mind, do a little research into reproduction of these fish and maybe change your target species? Just a thought.
I shot a lot of gar south east of Dallas on the Trinity River. I was using a little 10 foot Jon boat and I swear there were gator gar so big I was too scared to shoot them. I was usually by myself and even if I did manage to subdue one of those beasts (not likely) I'd never get him in the boat by myself! I never even thought about using a .22 rifle to kill them. This was back in the 80's, long before I ever watched bow fishing (or gator) on video.
Think I know where y’all were fishing. If so my nephew just stuck the lake record there… Over 8 ft 195lbs. Gar spawn is always a blast! Good one guys! 💪🏽
My buddies and I used to travel to south Texas for bowhunting Javelina and wild hog on the King Ranch. Those guys were always complaining about my snoring until I'd finally tell them, "Look, if you guys don't stop complaining, one of you is gonna have to drive!"
@@UnGuidedOutdoors The new boat is beautiful and what a way to Break it in!! Good to see jj back on camera too! One day I'll get one of them giant gator gar too!
Great video; maybe I missed it but why target females instead of males, are they bigger? I mainly ask because I see alligator gar all the time and would not be able to tell the difference.
Well we have an airboat so the only need really was a troller for quieter fishing by and lakes that don’t allow airboats. It’s the best troller rig I have ever been in.
😂 we barely know how it’s done, just good at making it look like we do. Plus it helps that the he best gator gar guide in Texas is a friend and wanted to make a video lol.
I've seen underwater video footage regarding gar behavior and gar also kill random baitfish merely just to kill them.....they only eat a small portion of the fish they kill.
I'm pleased that someone is on my side and the side of innocent gentle creatures. Trophy hunting represent the very worst of human activities. Just as bad or worse than that Austrian dude in Germany who thought he held the power over what or who deserved to live.
Meu amigo sou do Brasil eu amo muito esse tipo de pesca aí tem muito peixe parabéns pela pescaria só monstro um forte abraço seu novo fã daqui do Brasil.
My respect. Ive seen other bowfishing videos where they kill so many fish which they leave out on the grass by the boatramp. Only kill what you know you will eat!
I will say it like this, they have no predators, there is a one per person a day law, we only shot 2, some lakes in Texas have went up on the bag limit because they are overloaded with them and the bass population has went to nothing. It’s a huge misconception about them and really how strong the population is.
@@UnGuidedOutdoors thanks for the reply i just got into bass fishing and really just trying to take fishing serious and ive just seen alot of people talk about how old they are and needing to preserve them but i really respect your answer and not just bashing me gained a sub from me.
@@TatsuyaShiba97 only because of conservation efforts. Just let em live. There are plenty of other things to shoot. Anything take 100 years to get that big you should give it a pass. My opinion. I’m surprised DNR allows this. Not even sure they do.
Dude, shut up. Just because something is older than us does not mean it’s immoral to harvest them. By that logic we shouldn’t harvest clams or oysters.
You couldn’t be more wrong, there are lakes in Texas so over ran that the state has upped the back limit to 5 per day. They have no predators, their population is booming.
Bowfishing Gar Fish is terrible! Bad for the ecosystem, destroying a much needed fish predator (for other fish such as Snakeheads not humans) & wasteful, as many of these fishers dont eat it instead its for trophy kills Watch Brave Wilderness
