On a sunny day in April 2024, five friends came together to ride the very first Bowland Big Day Out. The adventure involved riding 165km around the Forest of Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales, an undulating landscape that varies in both scenery and conditions quickly. The total elevation for the ride ended up being 3338m (not the 2400 that Komoot plan suggested!) which made for a long and challenging day in the saddle!
There were two coffee stops, as well as a quick pop to refuel at a local co op. Too many climbs and descents to call out. We were hot at times (usually when climbing) and cold at others (often when at the top of the fells, or when speeding down!)
