Sand Bag. I bought my first ball drilled full finger in Paramus in 1973. There was a tournament that night in which I did very well. My average to that point was in the 150's with the old ball and drilling. I did have some conversations after I picked up the money. Lucky it was in the lanes and not the alley.

Isn't the "dish" shot also known as a reverse block, where they flood the outside and keep the middle dry?

You two are great together! Nice to see some smiles on a lane even if you weren't bowling.

Can you do a Video on THROWBOT? The most amazing bowling robot ever made? I would love to see a behind the scenes on Throwbot - what does it look like, how does it work, how easy is it to set up, etc?

Andrew said he teaches people w broader shoulders TO drift left to give them room for the should in the throw. I'm 6'4" 300lbs and to make room for my frame my foot start spot and eye target spot are alittle wider then a lot of people. Most have @ 6-8 difference, I start my night w @ 9 boards sepreation but its very commmon to be more like 12-13 between foot start and eye target spot. Plus I step @ 4 boards right on my plant every time so I facor that in as well

let's talk about layouts. Do you keep the same layout on all your balls? If no what determines the change?
@Nick.McIntyre
@Nick.McIntyre 2 года назад
I know CTD did an interview with Simonsen and Tackett, and those guys only use like two layouts and let the balls themselves be the difference. Tackett said he really only gets 2 of each ball, pin up and pin down. I'm sure you're curious for Andrew specifically, but it may be similar

There never was a part two? What's the track? What's the shim? Push? Hands up when shooting at this spare.

A ton of different bowling terms are completely depending on where you live and who your bowling with. A lot of time we kinda make up terms to describe something that just happened and you never use it again

The 2 terms I hear a lot are "Puked" and stand-up. Kind of have an idea of puked but still have no clue what it means for a ball to stand up
@byoung1991
@byoung1991 3 года назад
At least to me anyway stand up is the same as rolling out

The only one they didn’t explain was “shim” and that’s one I don’t know. Been bowling for 15 years and still don’t know.
@jeremiegrund
@jeremiegrund 3 года назад
To "shim" the lane is to attempt to manipulate the pattern to make it more scoreable. This is a big deal with team event at Nationals. See also Shim Wrecker LOL

Well, I always thought a right-hander missing the 1-3 pocket and hitting the 1-2 pocket would be a Brooklyn. While the left-hander, missing the 1-2 pocket and hitting the 1-3 pocket would be a Jersey. Is that wrong?
@Monk-Amani.
@Monk-Amani. 3 года назад
@David K • Yep. I'm a Michigan Lefty that live in NY for four years. New Yorkers call it a Jersey. Everyone else...Brooklyn. Depends on your demographics. Yeah, Quirky.
@jadenbrown4826
@jadenbrown4826 2 года назад
That’s how I say it, because it’s like you’re crossing a bridge where right handers start in Jersey and cross over to Brooklyn, while left handers start in Brooklyn and cross over to Jersey

What does it mean when a ball comes 'off the dry'?
@justmakingthistoreply5085
@justmakingthistoreply5085 2 года назад
There’s oil laid down on the lanes. At first it was simply used to protect the lanes from the friction caused by bowling balls but they realized that the oil changed how the ball reacts on the lane. So they created oil patterns to make things interesting. A typical league house shot it 38 feet of oil from the foul line. And since a bowling lane is 60 feet to the head pin from the foul line that means you would have 22 feet of DRY boards. The dry is typically where a bowling ball will make its move toward the pocket. Hence the term “off the dry”.

I love how you are doing a lingo explained but use more lingo to explain other lingo. Not really conducive to explaining unknown terms.
