That’s awesome! Definitely a score and worth a pretty penny to the right collector if you don’t want to have it drilled .

I had a 1980 bleeder. Always got an R or Q serial number that year. Mine still had color out of the box but turned brownish black in no time. I also drilled a gold white dot at that time and shot a 290 with it the first time out. I used a blue dot spare ball for many years that I shot a 257 with outside the first arrow (4th board) on a really dry wood lane. The bleeder worked well for middle of the lane for me. I also had an LT-48. Brings back memories! Now there are an overwhelming choice of ball options with people bringing 6 or more to league.

Absolutely. And his rev rate is flat-out phenomenal. I just watched his video where he threw a 1980 AMF Black Angle and all I could say was, “HOLY CRAP! I wonder what HIS axis of rotation is!!!”

On wooden lanes; this ball was easily the best one of its era. When I was ten years old; when wooden lanes were still in a few places; I used to throw my grandfather's 16 lb yellow dot. It had such gorgeous motion and hit like a freight train.

Do the Columbia Black U Dot. That ball had more power than reactive resins.

Was my go-to ball back in the late 70's. Also had a white-dot for spares and overly dry conditions. For really wild conditions, I was known to break out a "Black Beauty" or an LT-48. Can't even imagine what these would do on modern lane surfaces though.
@KingOfTVBowling

Not much but they do come in handy on the burned up house patterns . I’ve used them this season at an older wood center that got a little toasty. Thanks for viewing

One of the greatest bowling balls ever made. It can do things no other ball can. I am fortunate to have one and still use it in league when the volume is low. Check out video 93 on my channel to see mine in action.

Sad news! My Bleeder is no more... When it came back on the ball return there was a loud crack and the ball return jammed! When the mechanic opened it up his face froze in shock and he said: "You don't want to see this..." He pulled out two halves...the Bleeder was literally cut in two! It got chopped in half by a broken ball return director blade! It hit that blade dead on and split like a diamond being cut. And the edges of the ball where the cut happened were razor sharp like the Bleeder was made of glass or crystal. Still tearing up to this day when I think about it...never loved a ball more.

Ouch hate hearing that, they are super brittle had a large chip come out of the one I filmed with about a month later, had to fix it but it was in the track. Luckily I have a few others I have salvaged from closed centers here locally.

Is it me? But does it seem the yellow dot goes thru the pocket the right way. These new bowling balls finish too hard and do not set right in that pocket. They leave lots of weird solid taps.

With the new equipment I've seen people leave the 1-2-4-6-10 that wasn't even a thing back in the day.
@aaronjg682

Not as much hook potential...don't have to worry about huge back end so you have a better idea of where the ball is going. His speed seems to be creating monster carry also.

Did you ever hear of "soaking" balls back in the day? They used to soak em in something to soften em up and I think the bleeder was good for that. Before my time tho.
@KingOfTVBowling
@KingOfTVBowling 3 года назад
Yup majority used Acetone or MEK. Some Alcohol mixes as well as standard detergents to remove the oils from the ball and soften the covers.

@@KingOfTVBowling Man. If ever did that I'd soak half the ball and see how much I can make it wobble 😃
@majaman1978
@majaman1978 4 года назад
I had a Columbia Sur-D-Pro already came soaked. The PBA ruled it illegal to use. For the hell of it I resoaked it and it came out the size of a softball. There was also another version called a Shore-D-Pro. Not sure of the difference.

I bought a bleeder ( a 9R) for a lot of money at the time. Very disappointing. It "spidered"--meaning the thumbhole cracked and expanded--the material coming off the ball looked like a red life saver candy that had crumbled. Had the pro shop put in another thumb insert but that spidered too. I still have the ball---someone told me a 9R had some value to it.
@KingOfTVBowling
@KingOfTVBowling 3 года назад
Unfortunately those balls can get so brittle from the bleeding resin over the years. Sorry to hear that happened. But yeah the 9R was a popular number for them.

@@KingOfTVBowling the spidering did not happen over the years but rather within the first month of purchase. Thanks for replying

@KingOfTVBowling
@KingOfTVBowling 4 года назад
So true story, I had suffered a football injury at the age of 16. Compound fracture of my right Clavicle which led to 3 surgeries and two rods put in my right shoulder. Since the surgery my right arm barely has any feel due to nerve damage. I've also recovered from 3 BiCep tendon issues , 2 pulls and one tear. All 3 Non bowling related issues from a previous job Delivering Pool Tables. I was out of the game for 6 years after the tear. I have so much hardware in my arm it causes issues at the airport, LOL.
