Bowtech Reckoning 38 compound bow review

I would appreciate it very much if you do the comparison between the focus xl, rezult and the reckoning 38 like you said in the video.

I love my reckoning 38. I have shot the best scores of my like with it. I was shooting low 200s. Now I'm shooting 278. Love this bow.

I shoot the BOWTECH REVOLT. Great bow. 30inches axle to axle ibo 335. Great bow dead in the hand. I shoot target and 3D wt it.

When is the Bowtech, Elite and Pse comparison happening.?

I love my Reckoning. I have a couple chips/scratches. I took a felt tip marker to them. If you stare at it you can tell. Otherwise, it's all good.

I’ve had my Reckoning 38 for a couple months and I really like it. I like that I can switch from my Victory VAP skinny arrows to fat V-tec 27s and have a bullet hole through paper in under 10 minutes!

I love the idea of the customer being able to adjust the cam lean without having to use a press & remove the cams & axles to re-shim. Pressing & re-shimming is where a lot of the damage occurs. At worst the customer gets this wrong & brings it in & you can re set it to factory in a matter of seconds with no risk. This also applies for the customer.

Saw a Bowtech video where Bowtech has a machine that dry fires the bows 1000 times. I wouldn't want to test that on a $1700 USD bow myself but it would be a nice assurance.

Good group ,almost as good as the group you shot with th Jungxing Pheonix . If you could pickup five points by shooting the pheonix would you buy one??????

I would like very much to see a comparison between the Bowtech Reckoning 38 and the Prime Nexus 6, that or the Bowtech Reckoning compared to the Nexus 6. That is if you can get the Prime bow(s) in Australia. I do have a Solution SS and really like it but I am thinking of moving up to the the Reckoning, especially the 38. I am looking to build a second target bow and have heard a lot of really good reports on the Reckoning and Reckoning 38. By the way I am not a hunter so the shorter Solution SS, as good as it is, is not necessary (30" ATA) for me. Any input or comments you might have for me will be greatly appreciated - thanks.

You seem somewhat underwhelmed.

The bow costs more, but with a Mathews you’d pay 60$ for each module +50-100$ per grib +60$ for the top hat system. I think the price is right!

Also, I like how you talk about balancing. Perhaps you can do a complete video on this subject. Gaurantee most people really don't understand about balancing your bow and what to look for? Thanks

I have the same bow. The finish is the most delicate of any bows I’ve owned in the last 25 years. Other than that it is a awesome bow.

got green Reckoning 35. Too "rip your shoulder off if you're not cautious"-y for me. But it's a nice bow overall. A little bit overpriced if you'll count the worst stock string (serving separarated near top cam just out of the box, never shoot it it) and the paint. The color is good, but the quality is not. A big chuck of it just peeled of when I decided to set sight'/ mounting lower. Sad that it's locked in our archery club since april so i'll maybe shoot it only next spring or whenever this covid situation will ease a little bit.

Great technology with that cam adjustment for sure, but "marks" on the riser out of the box ? Wait for it Steven, there will be a whole lot more. That soft Bowtech "paint" coating requires packing in cotton wool. So easily chipped ! $2500 is considerably more than equivalent flagship target brands, so one should expect better. And if anyone likes cocking their index finger up over the grip shelf, be aware that it has a sharp corner. Look forward to you shooting a distance comparison between the new Elite Rezult and this Bowtech Reckoning 38. The Elite has all the latest technology, 1/4" draw changes, & certainly won't chip like these. Surely Bowtech is dealer negative ? Show less REPLY

Awesome review and great advice

One thing that always baffled me is the packaging of bows, especially high end flagship models. For mere pennies they could use a little more cardboard to limit movement of the contents. For Pete's sake (little personal jab at Shipley) the Chinese whoop your asses when it comes to packing. PSE, no more metal staples. One return will eat up more money than proper packing 100's of bows.

I think that you nock the arrow above that brass nocking point. You nocked your arrow below the brass nock... That is why it was not square.

PSE has the trashiest paint job ever! I have a BowTech Reckoning and PSE Focus XL. Paint almost immediately started flaking on the Focus! T total garbage paint job! The Reckoning after a year is wearing quite nicely. Both bows shoot well, however the BowTech is much more forgiving to me than the PSE… hands down. Look! I’ve painted bows myself over the years that still have decent finishes after years. PSE couldn’t even last days from the box! Paint is paint and much more susceptible to dings than anodized. I just think PSE needs to put more prep and hardener into their paint process! 🤦🏽

I have had many Hoyt target bows, but probably won’t be shooting Hoyts anymore or Mathew’s. The PSE Supra RXT with the SE cams and the BowTech Reckoning 38 gives the shooter way more versatility in the cams to adjust the bow to you. Been watching your videos Steve and really appreciate them. Finally narrowed it down between the PSE Supra RXT 40 or the Reckoning 38. Where I live nobody carries target bows. Being a left hand shooter I will never be able test shoot a target bow before I buy. Yes, I have bought new bows and owned them for one day. Price I have to pay before being left handed.

Mine as well send you a bare bow and a can of spray paint if there gunna be marked up from the factory !

Is there a string angle difference between the 38 and 35?

I'd like to see your reviews with a set up...dont really care what it shoots like naked...will never shoot one like that...a good naked shooting bow doesn't mean it will be worth a crap with stabilizers

When you do your testing can you throw the reckoning 35” in the rotation as well since it is relevant?

They are pretty but they are so fragile and overcomplicated machines. I drag mine through the mud like an AK-47. I much prefer a recurve, and have went from somewhat cheap takedowns, to ILF midrange bows. I do like the blue though.

I had one for a month, a blue one and the paint flaked off the riser and limbs, bowtech were utter shit and it took 4 months to sort it ! Gimmick bow !
