Honestly it's not a bad product, just gonna wait for a sale to fully enjoy it. I feel like this product would be great with some extra numbered content, even if it's high numbered stuff. Great vid as always! #dryden
For basic defs or approaches to collecting, might I suggest Reddit, Sportscardforum, or Blowoutforums. A simple example would be comparing, say, the base OPC playing cards to The Cup Rookie Auto Patches #/99. The entire premise of playing cards is to have the full deck. Given the cards have little inherent value individually and OPC boxes are relatively affordable, the challenge is to build out the set. Base cards are easy; SP face cards, aces and jokers are a bit tougher. By contrast, UD The Cup tins cost $1,000. The top rookie RPA #/99 is a very tough hit. And it would be impossible to build the set without buying multiple $5,000 cases. Generally, ppl will target singles, full stop. Might someone with very deep pockets set-build the RPAs? Potentially. But, it defies both reason and home economics. Those are cards to covet or flip, more than collect. Young Guns are both collected individually and set-built. Would someone build the entire Parkhurst Champions 51 minis set? I would. Will some kids collect the entire 350-card base set including SPs? Absolutely. Will entire sets be available on eBay at some point affordably, as really it is just about the fun and challenge (process) of set building and not monetary value? Affirmative. Will some ambitious person try to build the entire *master* set, including Jukebox and Flashback inserts? Well, I did for 15/16 Champ's and it was a labor of love. I'll see if I can showcase it on my channel. Would someone build the entire master set of (one-pack) SP Game Used? No. That's impossible. However: the Draft Day Marks are meant to be set-built; see the Owen Power: www.cardboardconnection.com/2022-23-sp-game-used-hockey-cards.
Cool mini cards. You’re right, due to the price of hobby boxes etc…. Everyone wants to hit signed cards. I think they want to at least say, I got a signature card, regardless who it may be. Thanks for sharing. #DRYDEN
Worth mentioning Mitch, being a content creator is a tonnn of work, esp. on release day prior to seeing any other breaks. Others will watch entire case breaks, see the cards on their big screen, and point out every obvious mistake, which we are acutely aware of. In person, the writing is very small, and the cards are far from our eyes, far under the camera. I often have to do a tonnn of research, or now even post a standalone analysis vid, so my breaks aren't too long. You would not believe how many mistakes are on the backs of boxes, on retail sites and checklists. Contradictions out the hoo-ha. And every new product is its own endless universe. So either you become a perfectionist and don't have any life, or on occasion you have a life, and discover the product in real-time. Then, in editing, you notice mistakes. Then what? You either do overdubs, or you just let it go and have a nice evening. But if you take too long to upload, the algos murder you. Even when you nail it, a couple of ppl will disagree with your interpretation, accuracy, or opinion. They will be angry at either you or the product. Some will even unsub you over a single thing you said dispassionately in passing, because they read ideology into it, or maybe they are just having a bad day. I personally don't watch viral breakers often, because often whatever satisfies the viral algos is what I dislike about social media, the hobby, or misunderstandings surrounding economics. However: I absolutely respect their commitment, passion, consistency, and work ethic. And to my mind, mistakes and imperfections are where the growth, learning, and beauty reside.
Hoping everyone keeps trying to hit jackpot with bedard 1 of 1 that it drives prices of this, I will buy alot more when prices go down too, love the nostalgia! #Dryden
