I recently had the opportunity to compare, side-by-side, three versions of the BoxLegend clothes folder: V2, V3, and V4. The V2 measures 23” long, 9” wide and 3/4” thick and weighs a little over 2 lbs. The V3 measures 11” x 10” and is 1-1/4” thick with a weight of about 1.5lb. While the V4 is 12” x 10” and 1-1/2” thick and weighs just under 2 lbs without the optional organization trays, which I’ll go into more detail below. The V4 comes shipped in a decorative gift box and the V2, available in several different colors, comes with a gift bag, making both easy to give as gifts to friends and family.
The V3 folder is the largest, and has two long panels on the sides and two smaller panels in the middle. The overall open size is 27.5” x 23.5”. There are three articulating joints connecting the panels which allow you to fold your clothes in a uniform and consistent manner and the folding instructions are easy to follow. Just use the instructions embossed on the lower center panel of each unit or follow the color photo illustrated directions in the manual that comes with each folder.
The instructions are simple: place your garment face down on the folder, fold in any material that hangs over the edges of the folder, then close and open the panels as directed. When you follow these instructions, you'll end up with perfectly uniformly folded clothes, whether you're folding a t-shirt, collared dress shirt, sweater, or even pants. The V2 and V4 are more compact and very similar in form and function they are just as quick and easy to use but pack up more compactly for travel.
The difference for the V4 is that it is made to work with a unique magnetic organization system utilizing removable trays. After following the folding instructions, the garment ends up on a removable magnetic tray that can be attached to a wall-mounted back plate for stacking and organization. Each tray also includes elastic straps to hold your clothes in place and keep them perfectly folded. The advantage of this system is that after stacking your clothes on the magnetic backplate, you can pull a garment out from anywhere within the stack without having to dig through the whole pile, and when you do this the rest of your clothes remains folded and undisturbed. The shirt and tray pop right off the magnetic catches. While this V4 set only comes with 3 trays, extra trays sold as 10-packs can be purchased separately to expand the system.
One main difference between the three are the joints between the panels. On the V3, the joints are solid and fused between the plates, so every time you fold them, you apply stress and friction on those joints, which over time may wear them out. On the V2, the joints between the upper side panels are substituted with swiveling hinges, so you’re not actually bending any plastic material. On the lower side panels, the hinges are made of soft flexible silicone, that bend and flex easily and also can stretch. However, between the top and bottom panels are still fused joints that rely on the plastic bending repeated when you fold. On the V4, all articulating points have been replaced with either the swivel hinges, or flexible silicone soft hinges, which makes this one the most durable.
Whichever version you prefer, they all do a great job at quickly folding your clothes neatly and consistently, allowing you to prevent wrinkles and organize your laundry in minutes, giving you more time to spend enjoying life.

I just got the V4 and was a little confused, lol. This video was excellent and I got the hang of the folding right away, vs the crummy written instructions that came with it. Thank you!

I have the V2 and love it. I live out a suitcase for 2 weeks at a time and the compact way that I can get my shirts into are great. I was able to go down 1 suitcase size using your handy dandy gadget. Thank you.

Hi, with the V2, are you able to do pants/jeans as well?
@shimitarudra4705
@shimitarudra4705 2 года назад
In V3 also you won't need to flip the garment at the end, if you keep the collar part at the bottom side (just like in V2) So not much difference between V2 and V3 ideally (in terms of folding). It's all about the way you keep your garment face down on the board.

Yeah, I thought the same. Seriously, I think Phil should leave a link to his videos on the individual Amazon Product sites. I see thumbnail video links all the time in the Amazon Review sections. It would really increase the number of views to all of these awesome videos. 😉

Is there anyone of these that are heavier and more durable feeling? I bought the version 2, but returned it bc I thought it was too flimsy, are they all like that?

Does anyone know if they even sell extra magnetic backplates? Also I see 10 packs of the boards, but they redesigned them and they don't mention if they're compatiable with the v4. I would assume they are, but they have a big lip on the front now so I don't know if it would fit.

I almost bought a BL T shirt folder but then I decided to watch videos on how to do clean uniform folds for T shirts, jeans, and sweaters without any t shirt folders. If you learn all the tricks and secrets as to how workers at department stores fold things then you won’t need any tools such as a BL T-shirt folder to fold anything.

People laughing or saying they don’t understand the purpose of something like this because doing it by hand is “easy,” are clearly lucky enough to have never dealt with physical disabilities, ME/CFS, etc. Assistive devices are amazing for those with disabilities or limited mobility when it comes to maintaining independence. (Lots of the TV infomercials y’all probably also laugh at? Yeah, a lot of those are just assistive devices.) Thanks for showing the differences with each model. As somebody with ME/CFS plus arthritis and a wrecked shoulder that isn’t at the point of needing surgery but is impacted by activities of daily living, one of these would be a lifesaver. Looking at the V4, but the newer metal jointed V7 is also intriguing!

It looks like the V4 is sold out at the BoxLegend website, but it's still available at Amazon: geni.us/d2VMzF [Amazon Affiliate Product Link]. There's a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale right now too. The extra organizing trays can be found here: geni.us/Q8YdE [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] and I've added this link to the video description as well.

Can they fold dresses?
@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 2 года назад
That's a great question! For garments that are larger/longer than the folder, the instructions say to fold up/in any excess material until it's within the size of the fully opened folder. I can't comment specifically on what a folded up dress would look like when it's done though.

That last one, sucks!!! The elastics are going to leave indents on the tea shirts. Terrible!!!
@nicholem4831
@nicholem4831 2 года назад
@Doves Paligrino Seriously? Nobody’s forcing you to use the trays OR the elastics…especially not on your “tea shirts” 🫖 lmao 🤣. It’s not like you’re required to use the device in it’s entirety, EXACTLY as shown 🙄. As with anything- use it however it best suits your needs. Phil (the reviewer in this video) is simply presenting each version, demonstrating use, detailing the specs and special features and pointing out similarities/differences as well as any issues/concerns. I do agree that in this V4 usage demo, the tray elastics appear as though they’ll leave wrinkles/indentations on certain clothing items over time, and in my opinion, the elastics also appear cumbersome and excessive/unnecessary. With that said, I’m not nearly so naive or self centered as to think that my opinion or circumstances would (or should) apply to EVERYONE. Maybe for some people the need to have the clothing secured to the tray is of a greater need than 100% wrinkle free clothing. I’m also open minded enough to know that someone could even use the trays WITHOUT USING THE ELASTICS….crazy- I know 🤯🤯!! Hell- you could even cut them off if you wanted to. It’s just not that difficult. I’d rather have some unneeded bonus accessories (the 3 trays and the stand thingy) and a folding assistant that isn’t going to break with repeated use. If you want to be outraged about something- you should be upset about the solid plastic joints on the V2 and V3 which are guaranteed to break from stress over time, therefore rendering the product useless and requiring the consumer to repurchase their item. Now THAT is truly something terrible.
