Boxster gets PRG Transmission Mounts!!! **DIY GUIDE** 

That plate on the bottom is definitely structural as a critical suspension component. It is essentially a large shear plate that helps to maintain suspension stiffness of the lower control arms.

I removed the existing mounts a little bit different to install WEVO Semi-solid items on my 2010 Cayman S. I didn't remove the brackets from the transaxle and I used a spline wrench to break that funky nut loose @ the bracket. I then broke free the 2 upper mount bolts and slightly jacked the assembly up and removed fasteners and the mount. I then install the new mounts one @ a time to keep the alinement in check. The torque value for the mount to bracket is 50 Foot pounds per WEVO, and I used a crows foot with a torque wrench (large nut) with the blue Loctite (anti vibration) on all 3 fasteners. Shift feel improves a bit due to the engine not moving around on the factory jelly doughnut ones . Great article done AR Perez on this task 👍🏁💯!

You do a great job! However, (there's always a "but,") your transmission mount tutorial deals only with the base model's 5-speed. On the "S" model with the six speed trans, the bracket on the passenger side is a "C"-shaped bracket, vs. an "A" and requires removal of a small stamped metal shield (two 13mm flange nuts and removal of the shield) to access the top bracket mounting bolt. Using a 16mm socket (on my car) and a 6" extension, the top bolt can then be removed. An electric / power wrench (long reach) makes the job easier once the initial inertia of the bolt is broken. I also used a pneumatic impact wrench with a six point 19mm socket to remove the old trans. mount while the bracket & mount were still loose, but UN-removed, then took the bracket and the mount out separately. Much easier. BTW, I used hockey pucks. Didn't have any skateboard wheels.

I am installing these on my Boxster S and contacted PRG for the torque... 60 ft/lbs.

I just stripped my car down (2001 Boxster S) to attempt this. The set up for the Boxster “S” (six speed) is a completely different set up as the right hand mount (UK driver’s side) is fully incorporated into other items and won’t come out without stripping other parts away. What should have been a walk in the park could potentially be a nightmare....buttoned the car back up and will leave it to a pro. Thanks for your efforts though brother 👍🏾

Forget the 2x4, buy some cheap hockey pucks on Amazon. They make great spacers for jacking up your car, tranny, etc. 😎

That’s not a skid plate that aluminum plate is a chassis reinforcement plate and adds stiffness to the back end. All boxsters should have this. Hockey pucks or skateboard wheels are better and less janky than a two by four which could split under load.

Since it’s been a few years do you like the mounts and would you recommend them or go with OEM?

How do they feel in combination with the engine mount? NVM?

For anyone who comes across this, I would recommend caution in purchasing these mounts. I ordered a pair and I believe he sent me the 996 version by mistake (they definitely don't fit my 2000 986 base 5 speed), but it's been over a week and he hasn't responded to my emails and phone calls to attempt to exchange them for the correct parts. An internet search returns results that suggested this is not an unusual experience with this company.
