She saw people struggling to accommodate her in their lives and felt like ending her life would make things better for everyone, as she believed that there was no way the situation would improve. Same thing with Shoya thinking he was a burden to his family because of the monetary damage he caused as a child.
@@Yamada31315 I agree this is definitely not a love story. This anime is bullsht towards Shoko. Shoyas character everything that happened he did to himself. Yet he feels like he is the victim. Shoko was the true victim and whats her happy ending? Getting together with her abuser.
The saddest part about this story is that Shoya got saddled with the sins of bullying Shoko by his friends when they were just as guilty of it too, and then all of them proceeded to act innocent to the matter, followed by bullying Shoya the same way he bullied Shoko and even years after elementary school they either continued to shun him or acted as if they hadn’t done anything to him, with Naoka in particular acting as if she’s entitled to his friendship and love as if she hadn’t abandoned him and betrayed his trust. They had essentially made it to where Shoya felt like the idea of him being forgiven or even having friends was something he shouldn’t dare to hope for, and honestly if not for the fact that he wanted to repay his mother for the trouble he caused and his desire to apologize to Shoko I wouldn’t be surprised if he had taken his life sooner with how trauma stricken he is, if a simple memory could send him into a panic attack. And even after Shoko herself forgave and befriended him he still felt like he didn’t deserve forgiveness and dedicated his every efforts to make her happy even at the expense of his own life. And knowing all that it makes the ending scene where he finally forgives himself and finally opens up to letting others in again all the more tear jerking 😭
ikr, Naoko was just this side of unforgivable, I would have preferred if she was not portrayed in such a sympathetic light as the others. I mean, she was the WORST imho. Not even Shimada, who was Ishida's childhood friend, was given that much in terms of a redemption arc - and he and Naoka did basically the same thing, blaming everything on Ishida and throwing him under the bus to clear their conscience (only Shimada had the decency to not act sanctimonious half the movie like Nao). I hated her okay? Too much similar to my own bullies/friends, too close to home xD
@@monkeyroby The thing with Naoka is that it’s implied that she had a crush on Shoya from elementary school and when he showed up to her work place after she gave him the card, it gave her the false impression that he wanted to reconnect with her which meant that she had a chance of getting him to reciprocate her feelings, which in turn fueled her entitlement. And once she realized that he only connected with her because he was hoping to get her to reconcile with Shoko it caused her true self to come out, which made Shoya hate her and caused her to target Shoko in the false hope that if she disappeared, she and Shoya could be together. And to be honest I don’t think they actually gave her a redemption arc, if you notice from Shoya’s perspective after he admits he hates her the X appears on her face again and doesn’t vanish until the ending scene, that didn’t happen with anyone else in their friend group even when he had a falling out with them. The most you could say they did for her is that she became open to understanding Shoko by learning sign language, when in the past before she even began to hate her she refused to humor the idea, believing that it was Shoko who had to learn to be like them rather than the other way around.
Why is that the saddest part? Shoko ending up with him and never having an example of healthy love is the saddest part. I agree the friends especially the girl should've faced some consequences. But Shoya didn't get "saddled" with anything frankly he got off light asf. He was ripping her hearing aids out and tossing them on top of all the other stuff he was doing one time he rips her hearing aids out so hard she bleeds. In america he would've gone to juvie. In this anime he's worried about loneliness which we all feel as teenagers and he didn't even face a fraction of the isolation and bullying Shoko experienced. Hearing aids aren't cheap he never gives money to Shoko or her parents. It's a total pity party for consequences he caused and in the end he still gets a gf so all is well that ends well ig. Meanwhile Shoko trauma bonds and gets a weak willed suicidal bf never knowing hey im young strong kind gracious and beautiful there are plenty of people that would never even think of ripping my hearing aids out until I bleed I should try dating them. And THAT is the saddest part of this anime the one who needed the most help compassion and understanding (Shoko) is the one who is instead mostly giving it.
Why is nobody talking about Nao's unacceptable hateful behaviour? Like she's actually one of the perpetrators as well. Plus she still hit and bullied Nishimiya and then has the audacity of blaming her as the cause of friendship breakup? Plus no consequences for her ,like what?!
I despise Nao, she always shifts responsibility and blame to someone else- she’s also so blinded by befriending Ishida to the point that she purposefully harms the people around him I specifically dislike Nao cause I resonate with her… a side of me whom avoids others and runs away from their responsibilities- I’m not a better person at all It pains me so much that Ishida is getting treated horribly- life really does bite back 10 times as hard. Watching this really motivated me to fix myself moving forward
im tearing up at her making a thousand paper cranes. in Japanese culture, if someone is sick, they fold a thousand paper cranes in hope the person will get better. Cranes are a sacred bird and it represents healing and hope. It is a way of saying i hope someone lives a long life.
@@zjahjah287his opinion is better then 90 percent of other opinions but then that’s my opinion so who’s to say that’s the opinion of someone else so that means his opinion is my opinion and your opinion is a opinion
@@user-zu9xg2dl5q you said his opinion is better than 90% of opinions how is that even possible there are billions of people and each and everyone has an opinion tf?
This anime is really relatable, and I feel very guilty. I was a bully back in middle school; I bullied a girl who happened to have a crush in me. She's a very talkative kid and has ADHD, and I bullied her for that. Despite this, she still loves to talk with me via phone message and stuff, which makes me so confused. Now I'm 18, and I realize everything I had done wrong. I'm very sad about what I've done. I apologized to her face-to-face on graduation day, even though I wasn't in the same school with her. I apologized, and she forgave me. She said we were just silly kids doing silly things back then, but the feeling of guiltiness is always within me; it's like a scar. Every time I see her on social media or watch this anime, I always remember what I've done. We're now friends, she’s doing good, me and her still talk to each other to this day. I met her mother recently on graduation day, but she didn't bring up the bullying, and I feel like a coward for not having the courage to apologize to her about my behavior. I feel very guilty and remorseful. Now, I've changed and am trying to be a better person. I was a staff on sports day, and whenever I see some kids getting bullied, I love to go to them and talk to them. Anyways, I want people to see my mistake and learn from it. Don't be like my past self. Sincerely,
past can't be changed...try not to live in the past...and good job bro...the fact that went n talked to those kids shows that u r a better person..🙌🏻❤️
The fact that you changed shows you have a good heart, you were a kid I did stupid thingI Weren’t fond of as a child but it’s about pushing forward we wouldn’t because wise if we didn’t learn from our past, I respect you for the person you are now. 🙏
we are the same i cant make it too and even if i do it feels like i gave them a flirty look idk but i think its social anxiety and awkwardness or maybe im just autistic@@VillagerGOAT
It's actually very very sad that this story is inspired by a real story of a boy who tried to save his loved one from comitting suicide but unlike in the story, the boy actually died while the girl who wanted to suicide was saved by him. And it was i think one-sided love from the boy. 😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭
It is one of the best anime ever ,I was crying at every single scene. The fact that he still remembers nishiya was just so beautiful . Edit: omggg never got this many likes tyyyyyy!!!!
If you throw a stone into a pond, it will cause waves. After a while the pond will be calm again and it will look the same. But it's not the same, the stone is now part of it. Heard something along those lines in a TV Show.

This is seriously beautiful and heartwarming. It shows that no matter what, we can always find a way for anything if we put our minds into it. Absolutely love Silent voice. ❤
Thank you... youtube for recommending this. I mostly don't listen to videos like this but i watched fully it make me cry harder. Now going to watch as series. ❤❤❤ Love this series and also narration.
As someone whos thought about doing suicide, this made me cry, just watching this realizing hes loving himself again wich is a goal of mine in life, i have bad anxiety and watching him experience that anxiety helps me know im not the only one going through hard times
Teenagers can be more ruthless than grown adults, as someone who was also bullied a lot in highschool because of my introverted personality and being youngest in my class. I just hate bullies and still can't understand why Nishimiya would even want to talk to a pathetic ahole like ishida and his friends.
Thank you so much for the explanation when I first saw the anime i couldn't understand what was happening but after listening to your explanation I got it everything clear Thank you so much
This story gives me tears, more than I Imagined. This story is emotional this is a very good one, one who teaches to live, love, and forgive. Friendship is cool, but best friends are better trust.
When a bully boy most of us starts to be unlikeable turns out to be a relatable, imperfect, weak human individual later in his high school year. Bullying is never the answer
I watched this when i was younger and i couldnt understand the crosses on everyone's meaning. Until i fell into the anxiety hole with familiar reasons in this very story, and now, i really understand how it feels to cross everyone's faces. i didn't even know who my classmates names are for half the semester or even know all their faces. But good thing i got the best kind of classmates that were patient with me forgetting their names from time to time and my best friends who would be there and then i remembered this show
