He’s regen is tied to changing forms. He didn’t change forms when he died so he just died.

Since it is by touch, he's likely copying DNA, which means if he stays in a form it's going to age as it normally would.

He most likely do not just copy their looks, since he also gained the girl's disease when he shapeshifted into her and gained better running skills during the two boy's competition. You know since he regenerated the shotgun wound when he turned back couldn't he turn into someone else, have him and the girl switch hearts, and then after waking up with the weak heart he reverts back to to his original body with the original heart? That regeneration seems to be broken, he can supply unlimited fresh organs as long as he can wake up afterwards and revert back.

@@rampart1918 yeah but he managed to heal the shotgun wound though when reverting so he can transform, do surgery, then revert back. The movie also shows that his powers doesn't save the previous state of the identity he transformed with (he reverted from Thomas body with a shotgun wound, he again transforms back to Thomas after to stop being suffocated and he doesn't gain back the old shotgun wound meaning he fully regenerated)

@@travissmith1042 Ok... So shapeshift into someone that is NOT a fugitive and is a candidate for the surgery. That makes more sense than what he did here. There is a good chance that if you either overdosed or took a potent enough drug to kill yourself that quickly, that the drug was also cardiotoxic. As is, he was lucky that his heart was still healthy and viable after killing himself in a way that could have caused heart failure, thereby eliminating him from the donor pool.

One doesn't need to interpret it that way

It really depends on what the drug was. Like if the drug stopped his breathing then his heart probably wasn't affected or if the drug affected his brain and that's what killed them then his heart probably wasn't affected. Until we know what drug it was? It's really a mystery.

Removing the heart could be impossible, he must have a nick of time to transform himself back to his origin right after the heart is transplanted.
