Germany has the highest number of bone marrow donors worldwide (7 million signed up donors) and I myself will also donate my bone marrow from Germany to a stranger in the world. The organisation contacted me two days ago that a patient needs my bone marrow. I'm soo excited even though I am a nurse and familiar with medical procedures. But this is a whole other thing. And I definitely want to meet the recipient and get to know his or her story.
I noticed that most of the clips I've seen have been German donors. I wish the rest of the world had such a great program. Well done to Germany for showing the rest of the world the way to go. Much love from UK.
I havent been able to do this due to all my operations, but as soon I am cleared, I am there and doing it. I am O+ blood type, next best blood to give :-)
And because a lot of Americans and Germans have the same roots. I personally know that the siblings of my grandpa's dad all went to America (6 siblings) and I have a lot of cousins 3rd to 5th grade living there
I live in Germany and donated stem cells to a man in California. I encourage everyone to become a donor. It is safe for donors and requires only some time. If you can't donate stem cells, please donate blood. Everyone takes it for granted that blood will be there when needed. ît is not. There is always a shortage of blood, especially in summer months. More accidents, fewer donors. Please donate blood, if you can. It doesn't hurt, and you may save someone's life.
Gott Segne Dich Andy !!
I donated after about 10 years on a register. I will never know who received it. Apart from it was a guy in his twenties. Who had days to live and was in isolation at a hospital. A couple of months later I heard it had worked and he was home and well. Then I believe about 8 months later that he had a recurrence and died. I was heart broken. This must now be about 15 years ago. To this day. I so wish they had taken more from my body that was needed and that he was still alive. From time to time. I think about him. Wishing I could of done more. It's like I let him down.
PaulsTravelVlogs please don’t blame yourself. Because of you this young man and his family had 8 months together, 8 months he wouldn’t have had without you. I’m sure they are all very grateful for those extra months you gave him, them. 240 extra days, 5760 hours which he had because of you.
@@deb8105 I just find it difficult to except. I still believe I could of done more. Now myself my life is hell. Due to pancreatic cancer. I live alone. I see nobody. I do though know that I have severe PTSD. From many things from my past and way to much time to dwell on horrible things that have happened.
@@paulstravelvlogs7367 Hi there, I actually think you did everything you could. I wish there were more human beings like you, then the world would not be such a cold, screwed up place. I am sorry to hear about your illness and other troubles, and hope everything has worked out great. Take care dude
Amber Lewis you have to be a proper match to be a candidate to donate, but you should go onto bethematch if you are 18+ and theyll send a swab kit for free so you can get in the registry!
Amber Lewis BLESS YOU...YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION TO US ALL🙏Please pray for my husband who almost died on friday and is in sicu from injuries sustained by auto accident. Thank you from my heart. Thank you for YOUR heart.
I'm not a professional in this area but I think it has to do with their DNA. DNA is what shapes who you are as a person so, when there is a match, two people can have a strong resemblance. If you watch a few of these youtube bone marrow donor / recipients videos, most of them do look kin to each other. I wonder sometimes if they share the same family tree in their past generations but don't know it. How else would DNA be a match if they are not from the same family tree or some sort.
Im from Germany too! Please, dear Stranger, you can save A WHOLE LIFE and donating doesn’t really hurt, it’s quickly done and if you really need a Reason beside it being so so so easy, you can right your wrongs, if you weren’t the best Person, this can be your Chance.
I've been online checking out all the latest news around the world and yeah, there's not much 'good' to report. So you'll understand my joy at watching this clip here about something 'good' being done between 2 totally different people, total strangers but finding a common trait that I wish more people would advocate= LOVE for their fellow human being! I hope this wee fella is going from strength to strength with his gift of another chance in life. Tc dude.
If you’re in the uk you can sign up on the Antony Nolan register but if you’re in another country maybe search into google what there is where you are from. Thank you so much for doing this, my sister is my donor but my friend’s bone marrow donor was from Australia :)
No, you aren't. At least here in Germany you can be registered until you are 55. Plus, this highlights a significant deficit of these kind of news stories, because people should get more info on how to register and become a member. Greetings from Germany :)
