Whoever put together this scene pack did a fine job of stitching together these moments on Boy Meets World. However, watching these scenes helps me recognize why Maitland Ward felt so hurt by her treatment in Hollywood. This show really treated Rachel as an object: she was either the sexy redhead or "the butt of the joke" (Maitland Ward's own words). The article that Maitland wrote for Rolling Stone hints at her impressive talent as a writer, but it also paints a clear picture of the serious, long lasting effects that the Hollywood machine had on her emotional health. Imagine being told something along these lines by your agent: "you do not own your body; the entertainment industry owns it, and by the time you're in your thirties nobody will want you anymore." She dealt with the damages of this industry-wide mindset for decades. That's why I'm glad that she's feeling much more successful, happy, and healthy in her current life. She may have chosen a different career than her costars on Boy Meets World, but she is forging her own path and finding fulfillment in what she does. That takes remarkable courage, strength of character, and growth as a human being. Maitland Ward, if you are reading this then please know that I have nothing but respect for you. I've read some cast members in the interview saying they were surprised that Maitland Ward (Rachel) became an adult film star. That's why she never appeared on Girl Meets World.
I was watching Boy Meets World reruns around the time Lizzie McGuire was on. So, when I found out Rachel’s last name was McGuire, I used to pretend that she and Lizzie were related.
