People have been playing about with their cars since cars have existed,it’s nothing new from hot rods to Honda’s,also some drive dangerously but again they always have.. there’s one thing that drives me nuts and its when I see a bmw with an m badge stuck on wonky beside the 320 badge,or AMG badge beside an e220 diesel lol
saw a midnight club sticker on a car there and it reminded me of this lol, likely been on the car for years because I'm fairly sure that site is gone a while
I went for an interview at a police station, I spoke about how I modify my car and take a lot of care with my car and like to maintain it, I started speaking about going to car events, because well they asked for hobbies and interests so I explained and I was asked if I would consider myself a boy racer, I said I enjoy racing at track events and that I don't race unless it's safe to do so. I did not get the job I don't think they belived me because of the performace mods I have done 2 the car :(
Hi Jonathan, Thanks for the response. Glad you're not too unhappy at how we portrayed the modified scene :) I might take you up on that offer sometime!
This video is a fucking joke not meaning any offence to the poeple that have made it but theajority of car crashes on roads are not even related to these so called "boy racers" but other people who dont care about their cars you tell me that if sombody has a knackered old €500 car with bad breaks worn out suspension etc. Or a car that has had thousands spent on upgraded bigger brakes betteelr suspension more reliable engibe and a more careful driver who is of more danger on the roads?? And I will garantee you know its the 10k "boy racer" that will get pulled over for inspections aswell. People need to get the idea that all people that modify their cars are some sprt of outcasts and a threat to society. Rant over
I used to love street racing and cruises as I got older just started to seem like a load of bollocks. Everywhere u went in the end police would be there
Yea I see what you mean. I really love the Euro (German) car culture :) Tastefully modified with clean lines. Here a lot of people absolutely hammer their cars :( find an NZ skyline without an oil leak, or pretty worn out drivetrain/engine you are onto a gold-mine ;)
RX183 Ya you did man and i honestly thought it was gonna be someone who was gonna cause war. Fair play on the balanced view if you do need anything else for these projects i will personally brng you around with me!!
just throwing it out there: i drive a modified car, and i've never had a speeding ticket, never had any points on my license, never been pulled over, never had a crash. so am i automatically a boy racer because i like to spend money putting some nice wheels and a sound system into my car? i don't think so. sure, i may well be in the minority, but don't assume that just because we modify our cars we automatically are all boy racers.
When I owned (Well I still own it as a winter car) a Opel Astra G 1.6, I used to drive it around the town showing off how it scrapes on every bump. But later on I didn`t do it anymore. Now when I bought a Nissan Silvia S14 I really don`t want to show it off to people. Cars change people. Atleast I have gotten more modest.
basically diffin is a non stop mini drift round a cone or with another car having one cars front left wing very close to a different cars front left wing and also front right for both cars depending on which direction there diffin and it can only be done in rwd type car where donuts u sit still just turn a direction clutch in 1st gear accelerator in handbrake of clutch out and the car will do circles very easily with its 4wd bearing in mind that donuts can only be done by a 4wd.
i'm a senior member of mnc and we got no call about this documentary. also that meeting that the gaurd organised happened 2 days before they had it advertised. there is a lot more to be said i feel.
I agree with the police car. Sure there are some pretty nice cars out there. But most drive the cheapest second hand car they can find with an ECO motor in it and make it look Fast and Furious but goes nowhere. Some go so far to put so much weight on their Ford Focus that it drives slower then a G-Whiz. That is a joke but it exits.
It's not much better in America either, 18 year olds are frequently quoted 10,000 dollars and more for their insurance by companies that don't give a shit and don't want to bother with so called "high risk" drivers.
It is not Easy for poor people to understand Automotive sports. Glad many officers in time have changed but we still have more work to do on these cops!
@bueybear exactly man, would they rather we went out gettin pissed and takin drugs then possibly drivin, or for us to be happy spending money on our cars
I personally messaged cronin_j on a number of occasions while researching the documentary. He responded once, asking "who is gonna see this video?", then wouldn't reply to any other messages. I also attempted to gain permission to attend one of your cruises but was never given a response to this either. Still have the PM's in question sitting in my pm folder on mnc.
Boy racers have a bad rep especially where I live in the uk everybody treats them like there a menace to society but its like older people say someone over the age of 50 buys a BMW 3 series and they join the BMW owners club when they talk about there cars its the same with boy racers its a community n no matter where ur cars from if its Germany,Japan,America everybody who modifies a car is classed as a boy racer like I said they just get a bad rep.
Street Racing, car cruising started in USA, in 50s and 60s muscle cars were driven by young men and street raced hard, it is nothing knew. Car scene in UK was better in 90s, today full of BMWs and Audi's and Suvs
@whitehart101 same mine was 2100 on a 1.0 Ibiza. that cud barely hit 60mph. To All Those Who Disagree With Boyracers: A Guy Pays 1500 On a Car, Then Another 1500 For Mods And 2000 On Insurance.. Now thats 5000K Already, So i Think we Should be able to Have our Car the Way we Want.
finally.. i know what a "boy racer" is lol. I'm from the states planning on moving to New Zealand soon and for the life of me didn't know what was referred to as one. Should of known its just rice.
agreed mate, nice wheels, decent sound system and a good looking car, young your stereotyped a boy racer.... i got a mk5 fiesta 1.25 hardly a racer in any ones mind lmao
Pet hate? Stance, that's what. "I'm going to take this average family car/mildly warm hot hatch, lower it, upset the geometry, suspension travel, ride quality and road safety; then I'll fit some oversized wheels on it and if i feel like it, adjust the camber so I have around a 50% tyre contact patch. Yeah, that'll be great!". I wanted a 300+bhp car, so I bought one that was made that way...easy.
Alrite lads, i have to say one small thing here now, not every young lad, or even girl, repeatin NOT everyone, is a f"cken street racer, some of us are actually car enthusiasts, its a big difference. I personally like tuning and styling of the cars, and like to keep my car nice, clean etc...but it doesn't mean that i am a street racer. The actuall drivers who is very dangerous on the roads are TAXI drivers, they are absolutely out of control when driving, from my point of view that is a problem
Yeap pretty much, in NZ there aren't a lot of "cleanly" modified cars ._. Most are Skylines and Subarus with mufflers you can fit a foot in.... no joke. It'd be nice to see a clean, tastefully modified car rolling past that doesn't have a primer-paint job, cut springs or stupid wing and chrome rims. Most of them are nice cars but just reeeally badly modified :l IMO
im like you, apart from I used to get pulled over all the fucking time, search me, my car, check my paper work, realise im legit n let me go half an hour later
