Interesting how the boy mainly focused on finding ways to climb over the obstacles and be tricky when the girl basically just went for the immediately obvious approach. I've only ever had a male cat, is there a big difference in behavior between genders?

The results went as expected. In most species (especially felines) the female does the hunting, so it makes sense it's the smarter of the two cats!!!

Answer: they both fail as cats for not just knocking the whole thing over and then strutting away proudly for heaving wrecked maximum havoc.

actually, you would need to descent the maze after the first kitty as scents can throw off the second cat. he was sniffing and picking up other scents. so, it's not really a fair test for the 2nd kitty.

No surprise here. I have a brother/sister feline combo. The sister figured out how to jump and flip the light switch on and off depending on what she wants. She also started rubbing herself on fuzzy blankets and then touching small pieces of cardboard to make them move with static electricity. She started doing these things at about 8 months old. The brother is a sweet cat but doesn't have the creativity or problem solving abilities of his sister. He follows her lead when there's a conundrum.

Ability to get through a maze is a sort of ambiguous way of defining IQ. I guess it does show which cat is better at mazes. Whether that generalizes to other cat tasks isn't clear. A lot like a lot of measures of human IQ
