I haven't played Nick Brawl, but just from looking at it on RU-vid I can say the animations look really off. They just look really unsatisfying and lack that oomph that Smash has. They don't really follow the principles of animation well; there's very little anticipation, and the keyframes are very unclear and all blend together, so the readability and distinctness of each attack is poor. The timing is also poor, every movement executes at the exact same speed and the distance between all the poses are all identical, so each move feels really regimented and robotic. I think overall the game looks serviceable but to me it's just a worse version of Smash.
