My brother felt the same way you did about Santa Clause and now he has a teenage daughter who has never seen Christmas as a magical time. I have seen it handled many ways the best (in my opinion) was the one Santa gift, and often not the most expensive...but rather one with some hidden meaning or significance for this individual. The kid still found it magical and the parents enjoyed Christmas (as they were thanked for any other gifts, and they had fun picking out the Santa gift)
