Shun is the star of the show honestly, he made Dai , the other cast, the hosts and us viewers stress out so bad and put us on a roller coaster 😂

I really enjoyed this show 🥹 & I have liked rewatching it through your reactions and hearing your different opinions. Personally for me, paying attention to the individual cast of the show and figuring out their personalities was important. Especially when it came to Dai and Shun, I felt that rather than just focusing on the "drama" aspect of their relationship that Netflix was pushing, it was important to understand them both and their POV’s. What was unfortunate about the show was how we didnt fully get to see different sides to the cast as well as we could have. I noticed that some people understood Shun but some disliked him or even hated him. In my opinion the show didnt have a villain or a bad guy like some made it out to seem like. Looking at Shun from the perspective of an older person, having patience and being understanding or at least willing to try understand him; I could see that he was fighting a lot of insecurities, was confused and afraid at times ect. I think communication was the main issue with Shun and I do have to say that while I related to him & understand him, that doesnt mean that I always agreed with his behaviour or thought that the choices he made were right. No ones perfect and everyone has flaws. Everyone makes mistakes and its what you learn from those mistakes that is important/matters. Also I don’t know if you noticed this but there are/were many translations on the show that are a bit off if that makes sense and also nuances lost in translation which I think is good to keep in mind. I don’t know if this is interesting for anyone but just wanted to share this as I personally think it gave more insight in to the personalities of the guys on the show😁 So how the guys speak from the japanese language point of view on the show; Shun: He speaks informally with everyone, except Ikuo. Shun calls Dai, Dai-kun which is cute as it is a sign of effection (If you are the same age, then guys often drop -kun). About 80% of the time on the show, Shun speaks using/with ”maybe” or ”I think”, which shows that he is not sure or not that confident in what he wants to say + he seems nervous. For some people who rely on the english translations, Shun came off as cocky, rude and bratty at times or like he is very confident which in reality wasnt true. Japanese/japanese-English speaker or people who know the language have said that he actually is very soft spoken. Ryota: Usually speaks formally but when all of them are together he drops honorifics. Gensei asked him to stop using polite language/honorifics, most likely to avoid the feeling of having a wall between them. Ryota calls Shun, Shunko (young Shun) and Shun-kun which both are a sign of affection. He is called Ryota-kun by Shun as well. Gensei: He speaks informally with everyone and his japanese is soft and nice to listen to. Also he is very careful with words. Dai: From the start/the beginning he uses polite speech but then it changed, tho he does still use it sometimes. From time to time he switchs between ore (very boyish ”I”) to boku (very polite boyish ”I”) which is cute. Dai has a gentle way of speaking. Many noticed that because of the translations being bit off in the very first episodes during the argument that Dai had with Taeheon, Dai came off a bit cocky in the English translation but in reality he was polite. Alan and Kazuto: They both speaks informally with everyone. Ikuo: He spoke formally with eveyone, except for Shun and Dai but informally when everyone was together. Taeheon: He spoke formally with Alan. Taeheon also had a habit of speaking in cute manner from time to time. From what i observed, Shun is the type of person who struggles with expressing his feelings, is afraid to let people know his feelings, gets overwhelmed by people easily, and tries to hide his own feelings which makes it even more difficult to communicate. Therefore this is was my take on the whole Shun telling Dai they should just be friends situation. First I wanna say that my impression was that Shun at this point did have feelings for Dai and that actually was scaring him which then led to him pushing Dai away. Shun worded the situation to Dai as if he just wanted to end them romantically and to just continue as friends. After telling Dai that he just wanted to be friends, Shun said the following ”I'm now comfortable being with him.". Meaning he doesn't feel overwhelmed and Dai isn't as "clingy" and that if things kept moving like that, they'd be moving in the right direction. So basically, what Shun ultimately wanted was to establish/set the pace between him with Dai. Its understandable to be having doubts or preferring to go slowly. Dai of course isnt a mind reader and therefore Shun should have communicated this to Dai. Unfortunately Shun wasnt able to express or explain himself more clearly to Dai which then led Dai to feel confused since he has just his own POV. Shun seemes like the type of person who prefers to think about all the possible issues, before going to the dating phase. This is why I think an extra clip that was released after the show had aired, should have been included in the show cause it would have given more insight into Shun and his thinking when it comes to dating. In this episode there was an off translations/nuance lost in translation, like when what Shun said had been translated as ”I'm sure Dai will choose me" which made it seem like Shun was confident/cocky ect. -What Shun actually said though was "Dai would probably still choose me", So in reality he wasn't that sure after all. I do have to say that one of my favourite part of this episode was how we got to see Shun try and deny his feelings for Dai, and also him wearing those sunglasses..🤣..trying his best to not show any sign of jealousy. I can’t wait to see more of your reactions to the show and would also love to see your reactions to the 1hour LIVE reunion as well😆 I’ll leave a comment regarding the other off translations and/or nuances that had been lost on translation in the your other episode reactions as well if thats okay.

And Philip, you kept looking at your food and not what was happening on the screen, didn't even notice many things, if it wasn't for Brian's reaction that was going to be terrible. As someone who sees myself in Shun and considers myself a cat in human form, I can't help but cringe. I see Dai in my exes too. This made me realize why some of my exes were so anxiously attached to me. Their clinginess and touchiness were too much for me (cause trauma), but I also craved closeness on my own terms because physical touch, quality time, and acts of service are love languages. The effort Dai put into restraining himself for Shun's sake would have had me in his lap doing the same thing as Shun lol.
