Hurts my ❤. Still coming to grips with the loss of Jeff. Lukather loved Jeff. Luke's first interview after Jeff's passing he was speaking of Jeff's greatness and said Jeff was God's guitarist and unfortunately he truly is now. I Thought that meant so much.

This in my mind is the best lineup Jeff Beck ever had with the exception of the wired lineup. Narada Michael Walden on wired. But Terry is one of my favorite drummers of all time and I certainly think that he was Frank Zappa's best drummer yes that's right better than Vinny. I mean Vinny is a Uber talented drummer and a lot of people think that hes is the best drummer Frank had but for the music hands down Terry.

thanks for sharing...what an incredible drummer...one of the very best. He has an absolute thumbprint that is as distinguishable as say Steve Vai on his guitar, or other rare musicians who have mastered their instrument, found their own "voice" and have a great musical sense over all.

I saw these guys back in Nov 1989 in Worester, MA. Totally blew me away. It was my re-introduction back to the genius of Jeff beck. Terry is a phenomenal drummer. The best Jeff has had (Vinny is a close second; another Zappa alumni).

I had a chance to see this tour. Too bad my band got a gig at the last minute in Atlanta. I had to miss it. However, I did get to see Terry play with Missing Persons a few years earlier. I love his work and Jeff Beck's Guitar Shop is one of my favorites.

I think he was still playing Remo drums at this point. I believe I can hear the Remo Roar in the tom voices. I think the Remos sounded cool. It was a more open, full sound yet controlled and noticeably different from the standard maple thud we all seem to strive for today.

I saw Terry and Warren C. in1981-82 here in Seattle at our Paramount Theater with Missing Persons. He set his kit up stage left and to watch him was akin to standing twenty feet in front of Randy Rhoades in the same venue a little earlier in 81. I saw Jeff in the Paramount in 1998. I also saw Jeff & Jan Hammer opening for Rick Derringer and Aerosmith on their Rocks tour in 1977.

Grew up on wired... a bunch of us went. 1 of the best ever...he was greater than expectations..Tony Hymus was simply amazing..a wildly talented musician who killed it.....beyond amazing was Terry Bozzio....like when they place the explosives in the mine and everybody has to get back? close to the stage, center, inside the mains. I remember that show like it was yesterday...JB always has been and always will be the best guitar player in the world...I'd give a year's pay to see that show again...damn!!

I have been a Bozzio fan since I saw U.K. live in NY in 1978. He changed my Drumming life forever! I then saw him with Missing Persons 2 times in NY and with Jeff beck on tour in Florida. I have also been to many of his drum clinics. He is one of the most influential Drummers of our generation and will be noted as a Drumming legend in future generations to come. One thing puzzles me...Why isn't there a professional DVD of this tour? I have only seen bootleg videos. Thanks for posting! Antone Affronti ~ Drummer / Percussionist Orlando Fl.

Stevens Levin & Bozzio, was an elite-level badass band that he was in the late 90s. I've got that album. I don't know if they toured together. Not sure? I don't know if there's any live bootleg stuff out there of them either. I've got another CD of his it was put out in the late 90s called Prime Cuts it's a lot of ostinato playing with tribal jazz and some outer space metal which develop into these Kick-Ass monstrosity of drum solos. 🥁 Terry Bozzio at his best

I don’t remember what year it was but I did see Terry play with Jeff Beck I’d like to say it was the There and Back tourI remember Terry had a beautiful set all black even the cymbals were black! It was a great show! But the first time I saw Terry play was at Frank Zappa’s famous Halloween show at the Palladium that was 77 of 78 I was about 16 or 17 then and in 77 I say Led Zeppelin play at the Garden and Pink Floyd sighing a couple months also the Garden! I ave seen a lot of iconic shows beginning in 1973 or 74, with Robin Trower Bill Lorden on drums and Wishbone Ash opened last time I saw Terry was Mizner Park in Boca Raton FL with Dweezle Zappa another great show!!

@wayneblanchard97
@wayneblanchard97 10 лет назад
Absolutely. Indeed, Lukather was producing a CD for Beck in the mid 90s. I read an interview where Steve was really excited ('We've recorded 18 tracks, of which about 7 are keepers. You wouldn't believe what Jeff is making me throw out.'), but shortly thereafter Jeff fired him, noting that 'Steve is too much of a fan (of mine). I need someone who can tell the good from the bad.' (Note: both quotes are me paraphrasing). Those tracks (apparently the are the tracks) appear as audio on a DVD I have of Jeff @ the '91 Montreux Festival, and they are not what I would want to hear from Mr. Beck. Indeed, they sound very 'LA, man', with Lukather's penchant for lots of crunch and effects making the tunes sound, well, more like patented LA big hair rock than Jeff. His subsequent Tony Hymas-produced 'Who Else' album may not be his strongest, but it certainly has some great tunes. And it sounds like Jeff. BTW - a great video clip from that era and band is 'Brush With the Blues', from Jeff's appearance of the Jools Holland Show. RU-vid it. It's a tremendous performance captured with great sound and camera work.
@hazor777
@hazor777 10 лет назад
Wayne Blanchard - thanks for responding. I thought it was Lukather. I'm a huge Beck fan, and have every CD post Guitar Shop (and a few from before - however I refuse to buy the one w/'People Get Ready. I love that version of the song, but that album is total 80's overproduced crap -even for Beck!) I like a some of his 70's fusion stuff, but I think his style really shines w/the production styles of the late 80's (ala Guitar Shop), not to mention his collaborations w/Hymas. I was fortunate to see Beck several times in 1999 (might have been 2000 - can't remember) & 2001. I actually bought 2 tix to Beck @ Roseland Ballroom in NYC & made it the reason to visit NYC for the first time ever (I was actually inside the Port Auth. bldg. almost 6 mo. to the date, before 911). Beck's last albums in the last 15 years or so really kick ass, I hope he stays in that "realm" of his playing. Last I saw him was in 2011 @ the Fla. Theatre in Jax,Fla - simply an amazing venue and performance! The man is amazing, to say the least!!!
@hazor777
@hazor777 10 лет назад
Wayne Blanchard P.S. - one obscure, but good Beck album/collaboration is the soundtrack to 'Frankie's House'. He did that back in the early/mid90's - check it out if you haven't. Very ethereal .
@wayneblanchard97
@wayneblanchard97 10 лет назад
***** Thank you. I have 'Frankie's House', though it doesn't really thrill me... Production values get in the way, as do those on 'Flash' (prod. by Nile Rogers who was seemingly too busy with Diana Ross to give Jeff the time... ). I love the more recent stuff, a lot of tremendous tunes. If you don't have 'Live at BB King's', I recommend that (there is a recently released remastered version) for really great playing and raw sounds. It is really 'live'. I've seen him a few times (and know some of his drummers, incl. Terry). BBA at Leeds Uni. in England, '74, twice in one week in '91 (Montreux Jazz Fest, London Hyde Park) and a couple years ago on the 'Emotion & Commotion' tour. Hanging backstage (Jeff was opening for Sting), a friend introduced me to Jeff and he went up against the wall like I'd pulled a gun on him... After the gig we chatted and he was fine. Drummer at the time, Andy Gangadeen, told me that Sting called Beck after the Police split, and the two with Simon Phillips were going to put a band together... but a clash of styles put a quick stop to that. By the way, if you enjoy Sting at all (I like some things), there are some great YT clips of him from his 60th birthday party...especially with Robert Downey Jr. (great!), Rufus Wainwright (also great), Stevie Wonder and Lady Gaga (fun) - all separate performances. Also there is a fantastic clip of him with Wonder doing 'Superstition' at the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame anniversary party @ Madison Square Gardens. Hopefully you'll enjoy some of that stuff too.

+johnny albit You've spkn the truth! Self indulgence yes. Songwriters NO! The Technical ideas are creative in this band (esp. on Drums). So, in this case it is "music" They gotta make a living as best as they can with the tools they were given. They know their abilities AND limitations so they create ideas to showcase their strengths in order to entertain an audience. After 49yrs of seeing this improvisation I also like you have "tempered" my musical acumen to it. Be well man. Keep writing.
