A real good review. This BPS with scandy grind looks like a legit bushcraft knife. After having my Cold Steel Finn Hawk, I again learned that a good scandy grind is able to take an insane sharp edge. #22aday Stay safe everybody, and stay blessed. Greetings from Germany!
Schrade has gone downhill. Got the 52 and was told the blades are made in China and that’s why I may have had issues. Used fire steel and coating came off with first try and I also had to sharpen for an hour and then it lasted only for a day and had to be sharpened for another hour. Whereas these BPS Knives are basically full tang Mora with bigger blades. Haven’t had any issues with edge retention and sharpening is so easy on the stone or strop.
@@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors thanks for the great review. I was deciding between one of their smaller ones or this. Those people are so nice. Have exchanged many emails with them. They are in lockdown and hear explosions every day. No work so only $ they get is through the Amazon sales right now as they had to stop selling directly from their website. Hard it to support them, especially with the quality they put in. I was supposed that they have their own channel on here. They even show that the handles actually are fitted and finished by hand. That’s pretty amazing. Schrade did send me another SCHF52 btw but it was just as rough. It’s so tough to not get the Mora Bushcraft black right now though. It’s on sale on Amazon and they are doing 3 month pricing so you can split it into 3 payments of $22. However I think that would be about 2 or 3 BPS knives so I’m going that route. Still…tough. Lol.
Yes sir it's a knife for alot of light work for sure. A knife for chopping and battoning it is not. That's what the bigger Bowie/khukri knives and hatchets are for.
Edit: it's 56-57 HRC on your knife 🤣🤣🤣 I checked out a video you made a while back after I bought my Hinderer Emmett. You made me feel good about my purchase. Then I donated to that woman for her niece ( I think her niece?). Months later here I am. I bought the BPS B1 KNIFE 1066 steel HRC 59 to 60. I bought it because I read that they supply knives to the Ukrainian soldiers. I don't have much money to support the Ukrainian people, but at least I can support one of their companies that support the soldiers. Thanks again for helping me with my purchase. I knew nothing of this company til 5 hours ago.🤣🤣🤣 I'm a vet that thinks of "s" all the time. It's only because of God I'm still here. I buy my knives, so when I pass, my grandnieces can sell them if they want for college. Thanks brother for your review. ✌️🦁
You don't know how much I appreciate this. And I'm dead serious thank you thank you for taking the time to comment and watch the videos you just honest to God made my day thank you so much
@@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors God knows what we need. Steel sharpens steel, so we're here for each other. Take care. And thank you again. Have a blessed week one day at a time.☺️🇺🇲
The only thing I had was a slight ever so slight roll towards the end that I didn't see until about 30 minutes ago. Stropped right out . However, I feel like I took it to it's limits. I'll do a follow up on my next riding video
@@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors reason I asked is because mine did after I did some chopping with it. But a few passes on the finest grit belt on my worksharp and a good stopping and she's good as new
The first video I remember seeing you in is the Tops Missle Strike , I think ole Scab is shedding some pounds . My Tops Camp Creek is 1/8 inch thick but it gets the work done , bring the right tool for the right job .
Was debating between this and mora bushcraft black. With some going on there though and having talked to them…I’ve gotta get this quality knife (I have several of their other knives and know how great they are) both to support them in their time of trouble and if this is as good as the HK5 or better, I’m in. I’m 6’5 and a big dude too so need a slightly longer handle for buschcraft, yet want to avoid the Rambo crud. Any issues with oxidiation/rust? Just curious as my knives haven’t gotten any even after tough use.
GOD bless you sir and GOD bless our veterans !! Prayers for all - great review 👍 I just got mine , scary sharp out the box - lookin forward to taking it to the field ...
Keep up the great reviews brother U.S.M.C Retired 1stsgt. Love the vids and keep spreading the message. If you get just one brother to stop the demons from checking out you've done an amazing thing.
I found your channel today after ordering a BPS knife and looked for a review on the brand. I served in the military for 8 years and understand the 22 a day struggle. Thanks for the kind thoughts and care for veterans.
@@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors I never know. I kind of make it up as I go along. Never plan out what I'm going to do. I did pick up a pretty nasty combat Buck I'd like to get to
@@DonnieBAllDay lmao we are twins son!! Every time I plan out a video as I'm walking out the house to shoot it I'll pick up a different knife and just go with it
Scab be gentle with that knife...lol...seriously your reviews are top notch, showing limits and expectations of every piece...great job my friend..glad your having fun with it...#22aday
First off...Thank you to you and every active and former service member for your service! The freedoms we enjoy exist because of the sacrifices you all made for us!. Secondly, great video! I have looked and looked at these knives and the price makes me think they are disposable however, the reviews, including yours, says otherwise. How can I afford Not To Buy One? Thank you again!
