Dude! This was freaking awesome! I loved this game! I remember thinking some of the same things, like how they introduce the RTS stuff WAY late in the game, I was like "this is a totally different game now" and I didn't even realize they incorporated so much stuff until you mentioned it. It was epic. Great vid too, I love your cartoon versions of yourself, it adds so much character to your vid and brings the jokes to life :) great work man!

I'm definitely guilty of turning this game off once the RTS parts came in, but now I kinda wish I hadn't, that online actually sounds fun. Also kinda funny that a game about Metal would be a mash of confusing genres considering how much metalheads moan about genres haha, great video dude!

I'm so happy to find other people who appreciate Brutal Legend, this game was one of my biggest addictions when I was a bit younger. Driving around the savage world listening to all the rock icons before jumping into multiplayer to release my teenage angst as the Drowning Doom. I wish more games would focus on the idea of 'fun' I know novel concept; what this game lacks in polish it makes up for in the ability to entertain.

I really like the point you got across with this video, another example I have, but to a lesser extent, is Smite. It's labeled as a MOBA, but when you think about it the combat is a lot more fluid and skill based, rather then setting up situations that work in your favor like other MOBA's. A skilled enough player can completely turn a battle around given he's skilled enough.

You know what i would love in a hypothetical sequel? Another 3 factions resembling bands like Sabaton ( Power metal, may or may not have a historic angle) , bands like Blind Guardian and a third faction which i cant quite imagine right now

Opening the can of worms that is Genre discussions is a pretty vast field, since there's more tied to that term than it initially seems. I can wholly agree that they're terrible, but my brain refuses to come up with a solution that is equal parts as vaguely concise at placing the piece into a reference frame and avoiding all the pitfalls the concept of genre entails. Or even better suited for the task for now at least. Arrgh, I need a drink.

I know we feel pretty similar on Genre. I'm never one to really consider it in my personal views of a game, but it has obvious use within recommendation. As you show though, that's also has disadvantages. Brutal Legend absolutely is one of the best examples for how restrictive genres are, especially video games. Great video man!

Good thing that these take moths to roll out, I end up binging every other plug'n'play...

honestly, if they simply let the rts stuff for multiplayer, and made the main focused on it's campain, world, and just being good fun time, this game would get so much more love.

Totally agree with the parts about genres, unless a game is designed from the ground up to be a specific genre, the walls built up by a person's perception of different genres will just break down when trying to associate a game with a specific genre. In a way I guess it can also be very creatively restricting to just try to identify a game as one genre too. The same applies to music. I guess, just be open minded and don't restrict and segregate things by always trying to identify and categories them. Genre's are only really relevant at face value.

As a game Brutal legends is shocking and interesting. I am just sad that it was not as popular as it should have been.

Loved this video man and glad you liked it - I wasn't a huge fan of this game - loved the style but the weak delivery on the story and jank gameplay switches were too much for this old headbanger.

Just picked it up on Steam for 3 bucks, looking forward to playing it.

"Death Metal" shows a black metal band, WAT. I dont think drowning doom represents death or black metal, they might represent Doom or goth metal bands like Sabbath, Celtic Frost and St. Vitus (and ok maybe abit black metal). I just hope the next brutal legend game uses more underground bands. As a metalhead i enjoy this game but theres something about it that kinda gives me a weird feeling. Not in a negative way though.
