BRITISH RAILWAYS IN THE 1980's
TINSLEY YARD DEPOT on 25th September 1987
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of my first visit to Tinsley Yard/Depot taken on 25/09/1987. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material. Did you sit on the same grassy embankment watching the activity in those long gone days ?

Always a trip to look forward to, visiting Tinsley & The Three Magpies pub at Brinsworth for a nice punt of Stones Best Bitter. Both long gone, sadly.

Some glorious footage there ! I used to love places like Tinsley. As a southern spotter, these places were amazing to visit. Even at 1987, it's surprising how much trackwork had already been lifted. Death and decline of the railways leading the death and decline of the country. The last 40 years has seen our country go backwards, almost over the edge, into the abyss.

Fascinating stuff, had the Class 13s been finished by then? Always liked the Class 20 as it reminds me of the big Amtrak locos (always seems a shame to run them face first rather than nose first but what do I know eh?). Still frightening in a way to see Tinsley though thinking back to Threads and where the first bomb went off over Sheffield.
