A short study of British Rail Southern Region's Class 73 Electro-diesel locomotive. These scenes were filmed in the 1990s at two locations - East Croydon and Redhill. The first section shows the locomotives working services to and from Gatwick Airport in their guise as the 'Gatwick Express'. We then move further south to Redhill where celebrity 73101 brings in a parcels train for a loco exchange before detaching and continuing back south for its further duties. These scenes illustrate its unique ability to use both diesel power and 3rd rail DC electricfication.
