When you brace your lead knee correctly, you can rotate your trail hip around it and finish your golf swing. This sounds simple right? I agree. I also agree that golf instruction can often be too technical. That's why when I wrote my book, The Single Plane Golf Swing, Play Better Golf the Moe Norman Way, I decided to leave the technical information out of the book and and only put in ways to feel the instruction because feeling the instruction is the most important part of learning.
In this video, I help you feel your lead knee position and how it's just like stepping into a shoe.
The Single Plane golf swing is not a quick fix golf technique. It is a system, beginning at address, that simplifies the most important moment of the golf swing - impact.
Starting at address on two planes where the arms hang straight down at address, the Conventional golf swing is complicated. Because the arms are hanging straight down, a conventional golfer must lift the body into impact creating stress on the back. This upward movement to accommodate the two planes is unnecessary.
The Single Plane Golf swing simplifies the golf swing by eliminating the need for the upward movement by starting and impacting on the same plane.
To find out more about the simple Single Plane Golf Swing, you can order my book on amazon at:

The best golf school I've ever seen. I was lucky enough to get a weekend in 2005. Golf is comfortable and enjoyable. People always ask why do I swing so differently than they do. I just laugh and say it's the feeling of greatness. Thanks Todd and Graves Golf. 👏👏👏👏👏👏

Today while playing at the Navy Golf Course (Cruiser course) in Cypress, CA, I ran into Eric aka "Batman" on the 18th hole. I hit my driver as Eric was waiting for my group to tee off and finish. He came over and said to me "Man.. that looks like a single plane swing" excitedly enlightened I responded "Yes, it is!". As we got to talking I told him that I've been following Todd's amazing content for the past year on youtube and watching old videos of Moe religiously. Transitioning my swing has been interesting, but man I'm glad I did it. My game has improved so much thanks to Todd and the team's online content!!! It was a pleasure speaking to Eric a fellow Navy service member and great getting to know him!! Hopefully, I'll be able to make it to a clinic before I transfer to my new duty station next year and make my golf game even better!

Yesterday morning I was flipping through several of your videos looking for a cure to my toe shots with my irons. I was all irons off the toe. It was this video that made the 💡 in my 🧠 go on! I had been straightening my left leg and therefore casting across the ball - hitting the toe every time. I don’t have a range at my club so it was onto the first tee with the thought of hitting every shot with my left knee bent - as you showed here. 4th hole into a stiff wind and I hit the longest draw I’ve hit on the that hole - ever! Started pouring irons and except for one fat iron all were feeling pure. Got to the 9th hole, par 3 - usually play an 8 iron but there was a 1 1/2 club wind into our face. (Playing a mixed league scramble. Hit my 7 iron 6 feet in front of hole - two wee hops - slow roll into the bottom of the cup! First hole-in-one ever! You’re right - we can pay attention and make a change overnight. Not bad for a 68 yr old, eh! As always, love your instruction - SP has saved my golf life with my history of wrist, elbow tendinitis and sciatica -yah, 68 years young!

I followed your SP instructions now for about a week. I play each day Tue thru Sunday... My drives were hay wire with all sorts of shape & distances.. But after taking the SP technique I produced some exhilrating distances as well center of fairway shots. Today os about the end of week since i started on your instructions plus all the MN series that you complied. I am 63 years and out driving youngsters or Players who hit long as much they do on my Tee shots.. Today i eagled a Par 5... With my gap wedge 52 degrees from a distance of 60 yards.. It was a pure strike ,took all the lessons of MN... Oh a 3 foot putt and launched it , with the correct ball position, the side tilt and it went sailing on the green , i had estimated the line of the ball just about a foot left of the hole, the aim point was perfect so was the effortless swing, the ball talked and sailed, dropped & bounced twice rolled the next 10 feet into the cup.. It was the 18th hole, i eagled it..and recovered all the wager placed.. In fact i out drove the players 10 years younger in age & taller by 6 inches in height as well weight. I am 5' 10".and around 80 kgs. While Sunday Golf is more wager,with a handi cap of 16..i finished at 12. Some shots i missed out on the planting of left knee.,so made some bad strike.. But by the 18th i knew my way around so got all the drive a 260 yds a 8 iron over the trees to around 160 yds , pure and straight, as all club golfers lay up before a water hazard that protects the green and the pin position cut. .. In fact years ago i had the copt of Golf Digest with Moe Norman on it... I had copied him and during our Annual Day Long drive Competition had the longest drive. When my friend sent me a u tube clip, i once again tried the SP method,moreso as i was struggling with my driver and ball position. All through the week i watched and tried to learn the technique. Your analysis is pure and very lucid. Thanks . I am going on to learn and educate all the biomechanical moves that you have ,simply &with reason . By the way i am also a USGA & R&A qualified rules official here in India & member of Indian Golf Union. Thank you, wish young players can take to the Single Plane technique. I am sure the level of game will have a changed bench mark. Thank you Little Moe and Big "Moe Norman".

Magic move! I've been playing golf using the Natural Golf swing since 2000, maybe longer. I played more rounds and practiced more this year than I have in more than 20 years. No improvement. Until I watched this video. It was probably another video but I can't remember which one. You were saying that Moe said he started his down swing with his lead knee and that just clicked with me. Stepped up to the first tee the next morning, couple of practice swings and BOOM! Bomb after bomb from the tee right where I was aiming. Best driving day I've ever had - 70% FIR. Got 9 holes in yesterday before the rain. Hitting pure irons like I have never done in more than 40 years of playing golf. Took me 4 holes to realize I had to club down 1 club. Lipped 2 birdie putts and 1 eagle putt. I was so excited I paid no attention to what I was doing with the putter. Carded a 43 with 3, 3 putts and the missed birdies and eagle. Oh what could've been. Can't wait to get to the range and play another round.

Todd, the GGA and your instruction is simply top notch. As a 35 year conventional golfer, I discovered the SP swing and your channel this year and it transformed my game. Went from 8 to 4.5 hdcp and still early on the journey. Also joined the Gold Membership - which is absolutely world class. Looking forward to the long Michigan winter in my garage to perfect the mechanics. Thanks for all you do. On 17 I hit a drive 100 yards past my playing partners, we literally watched it fly and one of them said "wait for it"... so fun! THANK YOU!! Single plane is the swing of the future, I guarantee it. The other big advantage of a flexed lead knee in the downswing, is it helps bring the lead shoulder, and hands out in front of the ball. Which of course gives better compression, ball flight, and ball speed. A flexed lead knee better supports the combined downward pressure, rotation, and movement towards the target. Who can argue with Moe Norman and Byron Nelson when it comes to the advantages of a flexed lead knee?

I'm not sure how I feel about single plane or golf in general anymore. When I discovered this channel I was a high 90s low 100s player. Within a couple weeks I shot my first sub 90 (an 86). I felt ecstatic and was playing far better and far more consistently than I ever had before. However, after about 2 months it seemed like I would "lose" my swing almost every other day. One day I couldn't get the ball off the ground, the next day I'd be banging my 7 iron 190 yards carry dead straight. In the last 3 weeks I feel that I am now worse than when I first picked up a club. Last week I shot something like 124 (not sure because I stopped keeping track after a while because it was so bad). I am seeing things in my swing that I don't understand how to fix. I had purchased a golf simulator because of COVID and was practicing everyday but have become so discouraged that I literally packed the entire thing up and stuck it in a closet along with all of my clubs and anything that reminds me of golf. Single plane has taken me from playing my best to also being my most discouraged to the point of wanting to sell my clubs and quit the game of golf forever. Not sure what to do at this point. I've watched every video Todd has and bought his book and his training aids and I'm actually worse. Perhaps I am one of the people that is not cut out for this game.
@ToddGravesGolf

The problem with your mind -set is that the same problem that I had initially when I was trying to become a really good player. Your mindset is based on results for example you hit it good one day and then at the next. The mindset that’s going to lead you to the greatest success is what Moe called purity of technique where you focus on making sure your swing and fundamentals for correct so you eliminate good and bad days because your technique is sound and it makes the game easier day in and day out.

Hi, Todd. This may be long but I am hoping you can help. I've been using the stack and tilt golf swing and it definitely improved my game but it's not as consistent (for me) as I would have hoped. One day I'll hit the ball fantastically and the other day, it's just horrible because of one tiny tweak which then causes me to go to the range for hours to figure out what I did wrong. I decided to try the Moe Norman swing with my driver one day and I was amazed how mindlessly I was crushing the ball down the middle every single time which stayed with me on my last round, where I hit every single fairway minus 1 and that was a small miss. I am now adopting this swing with my irons but noticed I am struggling greatly. I either hit straight, top it, shank it and most commonly get it out there well but keep pushing it right. I am not looking for a magical quick fix but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Here's my process. 1. Hold my grip in my left hand as described in one of your videos 2. Straighten my wrist and then line it up with the golf ball (center of my body but I also have offset irons) 3. Then grip it with my right hand and tilt my right sound down and put my wrists very slightly in a lag position to the ball. 4. Set up with me weight 60% on the left foot On my back swing I keep my right heel planted on the ground, keep my right elbow glued to my side and try to just finish my swing. I'm thinking maybe I'm not keeping my left leg flexed for rotation. Is there anything else here that seems like I am not doing? If you could point me to any videos you have that may help me put it all together so I can begin correctly practicing this swing, I'd appreciate it.
