A Midwest developer with a Triangle footprint is planning a huge industrial site in Durham as demand for the space remains high in the region.
Last month, Indianapolis-based Scannell Properties filed a rezoning request in Durham to allow for the development of NC-55 and Hopson, a proposed project calling for around 1 million square feet of industrial space.
The project is situated on around 105 acres across a collection of properties at 6572, 6622 and 6552 S. Alston Ave. and 6501 N.C. Highway 55, south of Hopson Road. The S. Alston properties are located on undeveloped land west of Highway 55 while the 6501 parcel is on the east side of Highway 55 just north of the Stone Center of North Carolina at Durham.
The property owner, Triangle Brick Co., assembled the land over a series of transactions dating back to the 1950s.
