Hello, I need som advice my teeth are the type he talked about first my top is farther out than my bottom but they are not pulling my front back and my bottom forward it is the opposite? I’m very confused. Please help explain why they might have did what they did
Guys, please look into orthotropics and consider stopping using them. My ortho gave me them but I'm not going to wear them because they screw up your face by moving your maxilla backwards. Just consider it, look into orthotropics- it's on youtube.
I am soooo HAPPY , braces were INVENTED! I LOVE having the ability to know i can have a beautiful smile. I’ve been waiting for forever to get my braces and I’ve had them on for a year and I have 10 months to go! Can’t to take them off and thank my orthodontist for the work he has caused me and my beautiful smile! Thank you orthodontists 💕💕💕
Thank you for this!! I've officially had my braces for one year (adult braces, too poor as a kid to have them), got my last set of wires last month and today, got my elastics for my overbite. My Ortho said I'm well ahead of schedule, the braces have corrected most of my overbite and will have my braces off by 18 months if I live, eat and breath elastics for the next two months at minimum. They were very thorough going over proper wear, changing often and literally only taking them off for eating and brushing, but I wanted to see how they worked and I love this video! 🙌🏾
I’ve been wearing braces for the past 2 years, getting them off soon. But my orthodontist taught me how to place the elastics on. I get the really thick ones so you can imagine how painful this is. And my dentist says the more I wear the bands, the faster I will get these braces off but I hate wearing them, now that I watched this video I kind of want to start wearing them. The bite looks really good.
Dr. I perform orthodontics as a dual trained Pediatric Dentist -Orthodontist. I just LOVE your videos. Thank you for doing this. I will give my patients your RU-vid URL and advise them to watch. You do an amazing job explaining everything so our patients can understand. Thank you again for doing this, and apologize for perhaps improving my patients experience thru YOUR hard work. I am sure these videos and your INSTAGRAM account brings you much personal rewards and success ....you are FANTASTIC!
Hi doctor. Thank you so much! You are truly too kind. I really appreciate the kind words and support. I think all of us have to do our best to educate our patients and if this helps anyone whether it be my patients, or anybody else's, I have fulfilled my mission. Keep up the great work
I want to be an orthodontist when I grow up and I love to watch your videos! They keep me educated about something I love and want to do! Your videos make me want to be better with my teeth, even though I am! I have come a long way in my teeth journey! I’ve even finished a whole entire rubber band pack!
I got braces last year I was told I would have to wear my braces and bands for 2 years but when I went back it’s now been a year and a half so I was told I will be getting them removed when I go back
This video explained everything so perfectly! I just got braces put on today & was wondering why I needed the elastics & if they were important or not. I will definitely be wearing mine around the clock.
I’ve been wearing elastics to fix my overbite. After a month or so of wearing it, my dr tells me stop wearing it because my overbite is gone. A month later I come back in and he tells me to wear them again. The same thing kept happening and now he tells me that I’ll always have an overbite. I’m not satisfied with the results and feel that he hasn’t tried his best to fix my bite. I was looking into the spring appliances and wondered why he hasn’t tried it on me??
I’m traumatized by elastics. I had an overjet and my orthodontist assigned me to wear elastics to fix it. I was supposed to see weeks later but Covid happened and i didn’t see her for another 3 months. I wore elastics from bottom back to top front for nearly 6 months and every morning i woke up with an underbite By the time she saw me again i was hysterical. Crying in the chair from pain and trying to explain to her that i couldn’t bite and make all my teeth meet. She told me to just not wear anything for the next 7 weeks. But the damage was done. Even though my jaw relaxed forward some more, it still wasnt enough to accommodate all my lower teeth. My incisors are constantly interrupting each other while assuming regular everyday lower jaw function Idk man. It’s so bad, she hinted that maybe i needed jaw surgery. I didnt need jaw surgery before. My bite was just fine. Now her office basically told me to find another doctor who can help me, which I went and did. I feel robbed of my smile and jaw function. And I couldn’t even get a refund...
I hope you end up fixing your jaw, that must suck that you went through all that to be dissapointed and not refunded. I hope it turns out better for you. Dont be discouraged :)
Free Melly - i took them out towards the end because it hurt and gave me an underbite. I’m supposed to not do what my tooth doctor told me to do becaaauuuse? You really on the internet acting like you know lol
GodlyJohn she made me wear tortoise elastics. Then when i came back in to see her in June she said invisalign can’t move your teeth forward or backward. I reminded her that she assigned me to wear elastics for an overbite and she said i should see a TMJ specialist. I think she forgot she gave me elastics, realized she forgot, then tried to gaslight me.
Thank you for the explanation and motivation. My elastics feel like cruel torture - day 2 of 4 weeks- so really appreciate this video! Liked and subscribed.
Oddly enough, they put a “hook” on one of my upper teeth and I’m supposed to attach my elastic to that as opposed to one of my outer brackets. I’m not really sure why tho 😅
Aww I'm so sorry you're having discomfort but sounds like the toughest parts are over with! Braces are on, teeth are out... now it's time to close up all the space! Keep me posted with your progress =]
I'm going through the same thing. they're using class lll elastic to help my bite and split up power chains to help close my spaces. if you wear the rubber bands often like 3 times a day you'll get use to them and they won't hurt as much 🙂
YATOGAMI I had 4 teeth removed about a week ago to give space too, but prior to that I only had braces on my upper jaw. They’re planning on putting braces on my lower jaw as well, will I be using elastic bands?
I’ve had my braces for 5 months now and I thought I was just getting a new bracket. They put 2 bands on my braces also. It’s just day 2, but it’s not too bad. I just have to remember to keep them on. I do RU-vid for work and I have to talk all the time. I have to learn to talk better with them and I will be ok. I will be getting them taken off in 7 more months.
just started using rubber bands, in the past week, i could seriously feel like it like crazy the first day like it had me blurry eyed on the side of my mouth the rubber band is on. it’s gotten better but my orthodontist has said it’s doing it’s job.
Thank you for this video! Your explanations are wonderful! Currently in the super sore phase after getting new triangle elastics, but I'm looking forward to the end result! Eyes on the prize :)
Ha thank you! Good seeing you back on the videos! Not necessarily but it is very important to have hooks on your teeth if you eventually need rubber bands, so its there "in case" but usually we do use rubber bands to help finish up your treatment and get your bite right! You seem to really be attentive to the details of your treatment =] You should share your experience on our channels new discussion board / forum myortholife.com ! Officially launching tomorrow :D
Dr. Greg Asatrian thank you sooo much your soo much help and have been aswering soo many of my questions. I will be sure to let u know about my experience in that like 😉😀also this really bad thing happened like 2 years ago when I waked my mouth on the bench and I cracked it half horizontally and it was my front adult tooth!!!then there was blood and Broken tooth all over my kitchen floor. So we went to the dentist and got it capped but the cap was uneven ( it was shorter than my other front tooth) so when I got braces the orthodontist assumed it was just shorter, so now it is like longer than the other one. And also it still hurts when he applies pressure to it..... Sorry that was a long stories....
Never mind at my last appointment he put them on my upper knine and I asked if I was adventually gonna get elastics and he said that towards the end of my treatment I would get the in a triangle shape
I’ve been leaving my elastics on and off for 6 months now😫and I complain when there’s obviously no improvement in the overbite. All it took to actually committing wearing them, was your video!! 🧚♀️🧚♀️
Ahhh, I just got my spacers I think, they were put in 20 minutes ago, the rubber band thingies ( sorry if there not called spacers, idk what they are called ), honestly they’re not bad, just a little annoying, not that bad. I’m getting my braces on Monday 1/7/19, I’ve been watching all your videos to prepare lol. My orthodontist said I just have crowding on my bottom teeth and just need to straighten the bottom and the top a little bit.
Just started my elastics and seriously it's hurt the first time but it gets better on the second day and onward. I already see a lot of changes and I also exercise my mouth by opening and closing my mouth often(when people not looking) to fasten the whole process. 😂 Edit: Even wear it when eating as my doctors said that is the perfect time as you are chewing. Only take it off if I am eating fruits whole. (I am too lazy to cut it smaller)
I had my lower braces put on today along with the bands for class 3 , this video explain it all and made it more clear , I was told by m y doctor to wear them at night before bed
does anyone else have a button on the inside and has to wear a band from the button on the inside of the tooth on the top to the outside bracket on the bottom?
Huh. I have an overbite, just like the first example. But I wear my elastics like the one shown correcting the underbite. My ortho told me to wear them like that. Is there something wrong? I haven't noticed a difference in my teeth.
My upper jaw is too much to the front compared my lower and my dentist just gave me that bag and said absuloutly nothing that i even started to think how im suuposed to eat, then i realized i can remove them and wear them again, i didnt know how but now i do,thank u sm,i hope i get it right,I wore them today 3h ago or so,and i kinda fought with everyone i know and dont know 😅 i cant even talk probably 😂🌚🌚
What does actually (physically) happen to the upper and lower jaw, when you wear the (class 2) elastics? Do the teeth actually "slide" to the front/back of the jaw or does the jaw itself move (aren't the upper and lower jaw connected to the skull or are there any muscles coming into action?)?
I had (actually have right now) a total of 7 rubber bands in my mouth its rly hard for me to open my mouth as the elastics are all heavy and super thick so I really can’t open my mouth even to talk, which is kind of a problem. My head is constantly throbbing and the worst pain is when I wake up in the morning, I can’t open my mouth, my jaw feels like there’s 5 tons of steel on it and my whole lower part of my face hurts so much it’s almost numb. I am getting used to them, even thought the pain is so excruciating and unbearable - and I also used to have to use a reverse pull headgear. To correct my severe underbite. Those hurt so bad too- my ortho would attach 2 elastics from my top molars to my front lower teeth and then from my upper two cuspids, attach an elastic from each side onto the facemask(and at one point my orthodontist doubled up). And they also used super duper thick ones that were so tiny and thick it felt like someone was constantly trying to pull my upper jaw out of my mouth. And the worst part is my ortho told me I couldn’t remove it (only to brush) not even to eat and he said if I did he would make me wear a bonded appliance that would be glued to my teeth. My parents monitored me 24/7 and even when I had severe headaches and I was crying a lot and they still didn’t let me take the headgear off. Holy cow I can’t wait until I get my braces off and I’m done with all this
Cindy Nguyen I was good wearing mine in the beginning since I only need to wear them at night but I fell off and haven’t worn them for almost 2 weeks! My mouth is so sore today since it’s the first day wearing them again 😫
Day 2 of wearing my elastics and they are painful!! But I’m also excited because I’ve heard that they fix teeth very quickly compared to other things. Question: How am I supposed to eat today?
When treating a class 2 bite, do the elastics move the lower jaw forward or the maxilla aka upper jaw backwards? The second option would destroy facial aesthetics completely and i hope it is not the case.
@@haneefamusat are u sure that the lower jaw who moved forward cause i don't want my upper jaw get back and who gives u this information i will be thankfull if ur replies me and sorry for my broken english 😁
I was hoping that you would talk about eating with the elastics that's what I'm worried about when I get my braces next month. Is it possible for you to make a video based on that or explaining if you need to take them out when you eat? Please
I have an open bite on my right side only, the ortho told me to wear elastics on both sides in a triangle but I feel like I feel more pressure from the elastics on the side that my bite actually touches. I am worried it is not going to do anything to the open bite side.
im obssesed with having good teeth! before i got braces my teeth were terrible. Now i really want good teeth! i take really good care of them and clean them every night. when i get elastics theres no doubt im gonna wear them
ive had my rubber bands for about two to two and a half weeks and I can’t feel them anymore. So I’m scared that they’re doing nothing or aren’t working anymore... idk if it’s just because I’m used to them or if they truly aren’t doing anything. Could you please tell me if this is normal or not? Thanks!
My ortho instructed me to double my elastics but I’m very nervous that’s going to mess my teeth up. I thought it was unsafe to put two elastics on the same tooth
I’m watching this in 2020 and I feel as though my cross bite won’t get fixed. It’s taking forever and I’m almost having doubts. But at least now I know what the rubber bands are even doing. Thanks👍
I didn’t even got my elastics. My classmates who have braces like me have them. At first I thought that the time for my elastics will come but then it didn’t. My teeth now is not align at the middle of my lips and it’s fraustrating be because if I smile on that side it will expose my two front tooth completely though not ugly in the eyes but still irritating cause I’ve had my braces for 2 year and it got removed this month
Thank you! I just subscribed to your channel. I got braces 4 days ago. After experiencing tmj issues, and I think an underbite. I will get my lower braces next week and rubber bands.
I've only got 2 months left of braces after 2 years of wearing them, and you best bet that i'm wearing my rubber bands religiously. i need these things off before i start senior year, bro.
my orthodontist said only to wear them in the evening and overnight, but in this you said to wear them basically all the time. did i hear my orthodontist wrong?
