Either for Christmas or for his birthday - I gave Brad a CD of Stevie Wonder's "Conversation Peace." Stevie is a favorite, Bradley too, David Gates, Todd Rundgren... for the Americans. Can't compare any of them - all different and all terrific. If I had to pick one, it would be the guy that was sitting beside me from time to time, on the road, watching movies, on stage - and he'd be singing a number of incidental silly things at any moment, but with that voice! Of all the things our audiences never heard, I broke into a one-guitar rendition of "Julia" one time, just me, Brad and a friend Phillip listening on while it unfolded... I wish everyone could have been there. You should have heard it--pure heaven. And I'm cryin'.
I remember when I heard about his death. I hope the news about the cause of his death wasn’t true. I’d have trouble dealing with doing what he did, if I had done it. Make good decisions my friends. Regret is the deepest sin.
I have never been impressed by celebrity, have never idolized or been awestruck in the presense of one. Maybe that's what makes Brad so very special, he never seemed comfortable with it.Protecting himself from the audience behind a guitar that he rarely played. A humble person that had a tremendous gift that exceeded his vocal abilities... his gentle spirit. Thanks for writing, Bob New Hampshire Video
I dismiss 99.9% of all Beatles covers, nobody can really do them justice but Brad and this group of guys nailed them. He was a Beatles fanatic and blessed with a voice and humbleness that allowed him to pay tribute to the genius that was the Beatles.
This explains Brad Delp a little more for me. I knew the bio on him said the Beatles were his first major influence, but I had NO IDEA how much he can sound like McCartney! When I get to heaven, I want to sit down and sing a song with the man. He's so nice, I'm sure he'll indulge me. RIP BRAD!!!
Wow! The depth and tone of Brad's voice is amazing. Just didn't hear this in Boston's overly dubbed and produced recordings. He truly was an amazing vocalist. A humble guy who didn't think it beneath himself to play for kids and small venues.
I never knew who Brad Delp was until one night I was looking at a RU-vid video of people who had died. It was then that I researched him and ever since every now and then it's almost like he haunts me and I have to go back and revisit him and his life. To the point where I actually talk to him (not that he answers..lol). What a talent, so sad that he could not cope with his issues. RIP, until I revisit you again kind man.
I was lucky enough to have seen him sing live about 8 months before he left this earth, all the time they were around and I live in Lynn Massachusetts and never heard of them until about 2005 then one Saturday I was walking in Boston and they were setting up the stage so I asked who was playing and they said a Beatles cover band so I asked is it Beatle juice? And the guy said yeah that's it and I said that's not just any Beatles cover band that's Brad Delps Beatles cover band, one of the best singers of all time
"I'll remember you too clearly, but I'll survive another day. Conversations to share when there's no one there - I'll imagine what you'd say." from "Company" by Ricki Lee Jones.
There is no lovelier place to play rock than at a high school. Jaz at junior college, and art songs and opera at a university. I miss high school and playing football. We sang along on the football team buss to the radio as hey jude was playing. We had just won the game. We were all dirty and sweaty.
I will always love Brad. He will always be one of my all-time favorite singers. I was lucky enough to see him perform live around 9 times. Not only did he have an incredible voice, but he had one of the warmest personalities of any singer I've ever seen. He had a smile that would light up the whole arena. I sure miss him.
I knew many of the band members including Joe Holaday and Muzzy from The Fools. I did not know Brad that well but when you talked to him, he made you feel like he had known you for years. He was that personable a guy. RIP my friend. We miss you.
I was lucky enough to see one of these shows with my dad when I was 11 or so. Such an awesome group of guys. They invited me onstage after the concert while they were packing up and I got to play the bassists Hofner for a minute. And the drummer Muzz was nice enough to give me one of his drum heads signed by the whole band. One of my most prized possessions
Torn between feeling cheated because Brad is gone and grateful that the Lord called him home for some peace. Too many singers sound alike, or have no feeling in what they sing, but every great once in awhile comes a singer with a voice all his own that is never duplicated. I'm glad we got him as long as we did and hope to see him in concert in the afterlife.
My cousin is the drummer, Joe (we call him JR). and when I was really young I got to meet brad a few times, he was such a kind person, even at 4-5 years old he made such an impact on me with how great he was. I didn’t know what Boston was at the time, but now I listen to them all the time. Thank you Brad, for every way that you impacted my life and my family’s. JR misses you.
Man, Brad Delp performing at a high school?! Those kids sure are damn lucky! I bet a lot of them don't even realize who they are seeing! A wonderful, legendary rock and roll singer!
Wow brad really nails Paul McCartney in way I haven’t heard anyone do before. There’s a certain Timbre to Paul’s voice during that era and brad nailed it
At a Beatle Juice sound check I could have sworn it was the Beatles recording ("She's a Woman") but it was Beatle Juice live at WZLX ! AND I HAVE BIG EARS!
Amazing. Of course, I've watched Brad in a gazillion BOSTON videos. This was the first time I've watched him with his BeatleJuice band. Outstanding as always.
Did you know he did backup vocals and harmonies on the Orpheus song can't find the time? It's the 2010 version called Orpheus again Can't find the time, you can hear his golden voice in a song that was a beautiful song made even sweeter with his harmonies in it
And if you haven't seen the beatle juice 1996 video it's a full half show of them doing a lot of Beatles songs. Another is called Brad Delp singing oh darling, check them out if you haven't heard them yet, not a lot of people know about the Orpheus again one but if you look it up you see next to vocals after a guy named Purdy is Brad Delp
Thanks fundyracer, It's me here playing lead and It was the three (guitarist) Beatles trading licks starting with Paul, then George then John, trading licks 4 times I think. I was always smiling during the favorite one (a John lick,) All of Paul's were the hardest ones to play for me. Luckily, they all 'shake each other's hands' and don't overlap very much. Just another Beatles masterpiece and very fun to perform.
My very first rock concert was Brad and Boston in LA, March 1st, 1979. I was 16 and he was only 27. So full of life. Boston had just about the fullest rock-n-roll guitar sound ever yet Brad's energy and stage presence was even bigger. Pure joy to see him sing. Loved to hear him sing the Beatles so well in this video! Thanks for posting it.
Saw BeatleJuice many times and Brad was always true to the music with a love for it that was unmistakable. He had so much class and this particular run makes me so sad for him.
No disrespect to Sir McCartney, BUT. The late Brad Delp could sing any one of Paul's songs as well, if not better. Paul, on the other hand, could never cover a Boston tune. Ever.
Wow what a great talent he was. I loved Boston but also loved the Beatles too like Brad did. His vocals are incredible! This song sounded awesome! Miss you always Brad! RIP old friend!
Derek - you were a legend, such fond memories, (I played lead guitar in this band, yes, it's me standing beside THE LEGEND, sometimes I had to pinch myself,) but I have to tell you, my aunt dated the organist's nephew at Boston Gardens and I was a youngster with her season passes. Year after year, I'd get into the locker room, Eddie Johnston would tap me with his goalie stick and horse around with me - a cute little kid at the time - I caught a puck I'd gone to so many games. YOU ALL made it look easy. We would never see that again - incomparable. Thanks for so many great Bruins years and YOU are the CHAMPIONS! I wish WSBK never boiled down the tapes to 'highlights.' Sin of all sins. All the best, from Bobby - lead guitarist here in Beatle Juice.
@@bobsquires4521 thank you for bringing me back to a time and place, that being Boston, that holds such a special imprint in my heart. Take care bob, Turk appreciates you
@@dereksanderson5765, I can't believe I missed this comment 7 months ago, I grew up in the north shore of Boston, Lynn and Brad Delp's hometown of Danvers, I was a young kid when you were playing but I was lucky that my dad brought me to a few games in the old garden, you were also my favorite announcer, I hope you are doing well and I wish you the best of luck
Brad was a truly great and wonderful person. I like Boston, but his Beatles "Tribute Band" were true philanthropists. They helped Methuen High and probably many others by putting on performances to help raise funds desperately needed for School Music Programs. RIP Brad your reward is in heaven.
A truly sincere performance, not an easy song by the way to cover. Brad's vocal range combined with his emotional projection is nothing short of amazing. Brad is so missed. This is simply a wonderful performance and video.
I had the pleasure of meeting Brad at a backstage concert in CT back in 1997. He was such a doll. He autographed my ticket and we took some pictures...one of which I framed along with the backstage pass, ticket, and guitar pick. His voice is a loss.
Holy crap, thanks newhampshirevideo, for posting this. I didn't even realize this group existed. I am a lifelong Beatles fan and usually find Beatles cover or tribute bands to be cheesy-- at best. Beatlejuice was AMAZING!!! So sad to lose a cool guy with an amazing voice like Brad Delp. This video brings tears to my eyes. Really incredible, these guys really capture the spirit of The Beatles.
John Strauss saw brad prob 12 times play with beatlejuice and never a disappointment... vocals are 100% spot on... tough with these older videos but live...... simply flawless
That's 2 shows I missed right in my backyard, the powers that be should have advertised it a lot more than they did, never even heard of this awesome band until around 2005 and got to see them once in 06 in city Hall plaza in Boston then they played a month or two later in swampscott and I had no idea or my whole family would have been able to see them, they never got the chance
@@jackasswabbit1625 That Swampscott show wasn't really advertised. I think I just drove by and saw a band setting up. It was on the lawn in front of Swampscott Town Hall.
I live in Salem was 10 years old when Boston released their firs album - Brad lived in Atkinson just a few miles from me - I wish he would have felt how much MILLIONS loved him and his voice - DUDE I would have walked to you house in an ICE STORM just to talk, why did you take your own life - RIP my friend!
What an incredible talent both Brad and his band. He so loved the Beatles. Like me as well and of course Boston too! Miss him so much! Saw Boston once early 80’s
