used to do slot cars as a young kid back in the very early 2000's, I had no clue it was still around! and I cannot believe how fricken fast they have gotten. soo happy to see that this is still going strong
@@Paufit right? lol I raced them as a kid a lot... My "hot rod" was a Mura powered group 20 on a vampire 2 chassis.... I left it on the track for a couple of minutes to help someone solder a motor in one day and someone stole it :( Absolutely heart broken... it was the early 90's and I was like 11 years old. Anyway, when a place opened by me about 10 years ago (and out of business 2 years later like they all seem to), I bought a "pre-built" group 12 car... I couldn't believe how fast that thing was!! It would destroy my "old" grp 20 stuff (even the "trick, hard to get unless you were a pro sponsored racer" Trinity stuff I had wasn't even close. lol Then I built my own "Cobalt 12" wing car out of really high dollar stuff and that thing was out of control fast. It scared me to drive it, as I didn't want to wreck it! Then I built a drag race slot car over the course of a few months, packed up and went to do some shake down runs with it, and the door to the place was all chained up... (kinda 'funny' in way... the place with the tracks sold me 95% of all the components to build that drag car... they had to know they weren't going to be in business for more than a couple of months!)
Have you ever tried the faster cars? Its a challenge to drive them. Most guys start out in the slower classes and work up from there. Once your at this level, this is fun.
Thats what Im saying man. I do slot cars 1:43 and am perfectly okay with the slower speeds. You cant even see or enjoy these cars because they are moving too damned fast! Im more of a realism type of guy so these dont do it for me.
