everytime i listen this tune i cant help feeling love for music. soulful guitar of weslike n floating up piano melody are gorgeous. in the future spectacle two
I realize Pat had to go a different way from Lyle Mays due to Lyle's health issues, and I am trying hard to be kind about Brad Mehldau's playing, but Brad doesn't hold a candle to Lyle. I listened to and loved every single note Lyle ever played. I'd have to honestly say that I liked Lyle's contributions to the Metheny Sound more than I like Pat's contributions. But Brad, while a very good player, is utterly forgettable. There's just no spirit in his playing. His playing is not interesting at all. I'd rather hear Pat just go solo. What Brad does is just messing up the music. I can't like him. He's a noodler, not a real music MAKER like Lyle. And a big part of it is that Lyle always knew when to lay back just back up Pat while he soloed, but Brad seems to think he should be soloing at the same time as Pat and that's always wrong.
