"It started with a Scream and ended with a Smile..." After first purchasing this album 27 years ago, this just hit me....😢. SIM will always be my all time favorite of Michael's. Thanks Brad for sharing your stories!

I became an MJ fan with this album - and i still love it. Especially Scream, They Don't Care, Stranger In Moscow, This Time Around, Earth Song, Money, 2 Bad, Little Susie and Smile. These are the (many) stand-out songs for me on this record.

Thank you for this great interview with Brad Sundberg. I enjoyed all his stories with Michael! Personally I like the History Album a lot! To me Michael is without a doubt a genius in so many ways. He was a perfectionist, who picked other great artists to work with him and expected the same work ethic. Michael is the greatest talented dancer, musician and humanitarian in history!!!!!

Thank you for "Personalising" Michael, as a real individual, rather than a "talented celebrity"... 👏 👍 👌 He had a "Supernatural Ability" with his gifted Arts , but underneath all that , He was a normal guy, and had roles as a Son, Brother, Partner & Father.......

I love this album very much. I was never so excited for something in my life as I was the day that album came out. It was June 20th if I remember correctly. It's a weird album but in a good way. I will admit I always skip Come Together, Little Susie and Smile when I listen to it. Oh, and Childhood. This is probably the album I go back to the most and I could listen to you talk about it all day. By the way, I LOVE Tabloid Junkie but if I could change one thing it would be Michael's vocals on the verses. It's hard to understand him and those are some pretty interesting lyrics.

I wonder how easy it is to take more credit than you deserve for writing when the artist is dead. I just can’t see Michael stealing from Buxer to claim all credit for Stranger I M. I reckon Brad was told what to play vocally and he helped jackson conceptualise the track but I don’t believe he “wrote” the vocal melody but that’s just me.

History being a double record hurt the sales and popularity of the record. It was confusing to fans and they thought it was just a best of album. I also think it’s weird how on an album named history, that the songs aren’t in chronological order.
@jackson-ch
@jackson-ch Год назад
there is some truth in that. But HIStory i think is an excellent title, as it respresents Disc 1, the greatest hits part, as well Disc 2 which was mostly HIS Story - more personal than before.
@aaronfentress7364
@aaronfentress7364 Год назад
Quincy was there for a short time?
@jackson-ch
@jackson-ch Год назад
At least for three albums;-) But many were actually engaged longer by Michael. Greg Phillinganes for example was there before (since the recording-sessions for Destiny, 1978) and stayed with MJ until 2001. Or another example: John Barnes was recording and writing with Michael over at least two or three decades. Or David Williams, a phenomenal guitarist, who Michael worked with since the late 70s untitl the 90s - in the studio as well while on tour. Or Brad Buxer, a former musician of Stevie Wonderwho came in after Quincy.
@jackson-ch
@jackson-ch Год назад
also keep in mind, that most of the Bad album was already recorded by Michael Jackson and his team at Heavenhurst and only later was redone with Quincy at Westlake. (I don't want to diminish Quincy Jones' genius influence in any way. For example, we have him to thank for Man In The Mirror, and of course, the way Bad sounded at the end:-) )
