Join us for a lovely afternoon of solo performances by two of the most exciting pianists in the Midwest.
Born in New York, Paul Giallorenzo is a Chicago-based improviser, composer, producer, and sound designer using piano, synthesizer, keyboards, and electronics in a diverse range of contexts with a wide array of Chicago and international musicians in improvised, avant-jazz,experimental, and electro/acoustic music.
Jim Baker has been playing piano and synthesizer in and around Chicago for the last few decades and his work has been documented on more than eighty commercially released recordings. His infrequent solo performances have included a mixture of free improvision, interpretations of standards and other song-like material, and improvision-infused interpretations of original compositions. Baker's timing is otherworldly, and at times, deeply spiritual.
It will be an afternoon of widly different playing styles, and we hope you can join us for these exciting performances!
We will be debuting the currently unnamed piano that has been generously purchased by Matt Butchko and we will have a variety of cds and LPs as raffles to help with the cost.
