Ookhago (Valley of Flower) is situated above Dhumshakhar heights on the top peak of Chagaon Village In Kinnaur District of Himachal Pradesh, India. The elevation of this place is 14796 feet from the mean sea level. This video was recorded on August 20, 2020, during the 4 days Trek to the top peaks of Pagramang Area (Chagaon, Urni, Yula, Meeru) of Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, India.

This is real brahmakamal which only grows in high altitude. The one which grows in balcony is not brahmakamal it is Queen of the Night - cactus - Night Blooming Cereus (Epiphyllum oxypetalum). In Maharashtra at least there is misconception about this plant being Brahmakamal.

@@nobita2.o676 one which is found in balcony is cactus - Night Blooming Cereus (Epiphyllum oxypetalum).it is Queen of night. In Mahabharata we get reference of real brahmakamal . Drupadi sends bhim to fetch the flower, when bhim goes in search of this flower in Himalayas he meets his brother hanuman. It is clearly mentioned in Mahabharata that Bhim goes to high mountains in search of this flower

We do pluck it ever year... Not for fun but for rituals. We do not exploit our resources...and tourists will never come to these area.

But you should not pluck this much brahmakamal because they are found only in some precious places you should save them because if we will pluck them in such a large quantity we should have to preserve them 🙏🏻

May be the locals there may be using those plants or the flowers as their daily food habits as we use palak or Sarson ka saag. It may be as common feasible instant food product for them.

Due to this habit of plucking brahmakamal for religious offerrings have made it into the CRITICALLY ENDANGERED list . State flower of our Uttarakhand , needs to be preserved and for that locals need to be made aware , who can then make the tourists aware of its importance and handling.
