The kid is amazing. He plays subtle dynamics with finesse. The woman at 12:05 and 20:55 is wonderful. It is as though there is the subtle spirit of music. The pianist is brilliant and Benjamin Zander is awesome. And yes, the composition by Brahms is extraordinarily warm and evocative. What an experience!
34:00 He gave him a great piece of advice for life, in a superb way. How much passion and experience! I wish I could met Mr. Zander once, at least to attend one of his concerts....
Brilliant!!! I saw Benjamin's classical music speech on TED, it was so inspired and unforgettable. Now the master class is also wonderful, btw, just wondering how many musical instruments he knows? he seems know A LOT !!!!

I don’t need the performance of a famous master. I like playing Dina,Hotin and Zander. I like HoTin’s music more than pitch. The next time you do it , you should bind the music. I want to see another performance of HoTin.
I'm a little iffy about this masterclass. I mostly just disagree with the tempos that Benjamin is having him use. of coarse this is just my opinion so you can disagree with me but the tempo he's taking after the second ending is just too fast. This part should really be savored and enjoyed before the next time the depression kicks in and it gets all crazy again. If you've heard Jacqueline du Pre's rendition then you know what I mean.
It's not a masterclass. It's an interpretation class. Meaning your opinion is perfectly valid, but Zander was giving the student food for thought. If I were a young cellist I'd personally consider anything Zander told me, especially concerning the cello.
He wants more of them as you see, he doesn't want to see just instruments and musician, but more, maybe over-musician can serve the meaning, he wants to get them to reach what's beyond there capacity in expressing themselves and integrate themselves through music, so not just music is what's there, no but the composer and the musician and the audience is all there in music, its all about integration, that's the beauty of music, something miraculously beautiful
Have you ANY conceivable idea about ENGAGING?. When a teacher regardless of the subject is NOT engaging with their pupil then they are merely making sounds. When you begin engaging then transference takes place. But that’s not enough. To REALLY be effective then the pupil has to physically be active to promote the motor skills necessary so the pupil retains the new found skill. You can TRY and teach someone to swim in an EMPTY pool. But when the pool is filled then the pupil knows WHY AND WHEN to swim.
