i do not understand why many times search for a live performance of this piece that only this time i find this special orchesta, wonder why they can do this so smoothly with remarkably many artists. thanks for sharing
This makes me want to be a violinist. They get to play amazing music like this, and they also get a decent ab workout every time they perform. All jokes aside though; Brahms is one of, if not my most favorite composer in all of history. His works make other lesser musician's pieces look dull and shallow.
Paul Doron you're absolutely wrong. You need to listen Furtwängler's or Klemperer's or Walter's versions to realize how far, way way out this from supreme art of conducting and performing is.
Colin, as he breathes and lives! I was always tied up. Unfortunately, the end is cut off before the end of the work. Something hurts a musician if cut away from the finish. It would be better, hide in the applause. (I remember, that Sir Colin doesn't like it when the last notes of a work... are destroyed by applause)
Sir Colin, wie er leibt und lebt!! Ich war wie immer gefesselt. Leider ist der Schluß vor dem Ende des Werkes abgeschnitten. So etwas tut einem Musiker weh, wenn unrhytmisch vor Schluß weggeschnitten wird. Besser wäre es, im Beifall auszublenden. (Ich erinnere mich, daß Sir Colin es nicht mag, wenn die letzten Töne eines Werkes durch Beifall zerstört werden ...)
